As I said, you cannot put a jacket and tie on a chimpanzee and expect him to behave like human. Akufo-Addo, Bawumia, and Ken Ofori-Atta are like chimps who are raised in a primitive Ghanaian enclave, and to expect these men to bring about change in Ghana is like asking 11 chimps to play soccer on a soccer field.
As I have always maintained change has always come from without, not from within. People like Akufo-Addo, Bawumia, and Ken Ofori-Atta who have lived in Ghana all their lives have no reference point to effect change in society.
The leader who transformed Singapore from a marshy land to today's economic wonders, Lee Kwan Yew, (LKY) lived in Britain for many years before going back home to transform his country. LKY's reference point was Britain's entrepot economy - he went home and replicated exactly what he had experienced in his stay in Britain. Yes indeed, change come from without not from within.
Mahatma Gandhi who led India to independence spent his formative years in South Africa, where he developed his philosophy of satyagraha, a form of active yet peaceful resistance to political injustices. In fact South Africa was the crucible that forged Gandhi's identity as a political activist and was an important prelude to his return to India, where he played a pivotal role in securing its independence in August rule in August 1947. Yes, change has always been a byproduct of people who have lived extensively in abroad and have returned home to take up leadership.
Our own Kwame Nkrumah's story gives credence to this fact. Need I say more? Ghanaians who want to see the real change in the country should stop voting for the NDC and NPP - they are wasting their votes. Rather they should look out for me in the 2020 elections. Change is on the way for those Ghanaians who want it.
