I would have thought that this advice would be common sense. No need telling. Hasn't there been the saying: "Cut your coat according to your size?"
Even before the contracts expire or people retire, some investments and reduced lifestyles strategies should be put in place. A very important subject worth-reviewing in Ghana, is the general lifestyles of people in the country, cutting across all professions. Just look at how wedding and funeral ceremonies are organized in Ghana - COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME & MONEY, AND OTHER RESOURCES, which could have been better invested, with a bit of proper thinking and planning.
Well, hopefully Kingston Laryea's advice would make things clearer to us all. Nonetheless, it is still common sense; nothing new worth-telling!
