So, who holds parliamentarians on contempt of false promises to their constituencies during elections and when in power, zero gets done? Do the people of Ghana have a right to hold them for contempt??????
I prefer a MILITARY RULE of DISCIPLINE AND THE 'RULE OF LAW' whereby armed robbers do not shoot our police in broad daylight and individuals verbally and physically attacking our judiciary!!!
Why is Casely-Hayford being held for his freedom of speech and not the other way round????
GOD BLESS GHANA!
AFRICAN FOREVER!

Parliamentarians should be help for contempt towards the good people of Ghana. They have looked down on us for so long.

I think he is trying too hard to appear relevant to our national discourse. But he is not indispensable and Ghana could still succeed without his vitriolic, abrasive and impudent thrust. No one should give him the favor of inviting him to meet with the House, as if to welcome some eminent dignitary to listen to. I think his insults at the Parliament merit being held for contempt just as some others were treated recently.
If he is not summonsed or ordered to explain himself better and apologize more formally, the House would be playing double standards. Surely, we all appreciate the freedom of speech that allows us to criticize every entity in the country. But the criticisms must be within bounds of civility, and not belittle the entire House, even though the behavior of some its members might deserve the sharpest of rebukes.
On the substance of Casely-Hayford's suggested solution, I would like to submit thus: As much as decentralization is crucial for effective implementation most policies that directly reflect idiosyncrasies of individual Regions, there is the need for a Central National Legislative Body that would, at least, coordinate among the Regions to present a unified understanding of basic Laws and Regulations that all in the Nation need to abide by. We cannot afford to decentralize too much to the point where each Region becomes a Nation within a Nation.
Casely-Hayford is, typically, an ultra-Capitalist whose views support an exaggerated, Utopian Laisser-faire in which such drastic decentralization as he suggests would be the best environment to practice it. With the background that he has, it is understandable why he leans so steeply that way.
He seems so full of anger for being not in the spotlight that he could be likened to what Saruman later became in J. K. Rowlin's 'Lord of the Ring' film trilogy.
