Just a bunch of talkers. Even your name William is imported and you do not see anything wrong with that. Or you need Tech to manufacture a Ghanaian name for you? Do not bring your ignorant self.

How can you say Tech was set up to train mechanics? Goes that sound right to your worthless brain? Do you want the university to leave is core mandate and take over the job of Suame magazine? If 10% of students offers arts in Tech and some calls that lack of focus from core mandate then there is something logically wrong in the person's assertion. And Yakagbomor like you will just and shout and support anything without thinking.

Otherwise a new university need to be built.
My question is with all the Royalties that the Ashanti monarch receives why has it not crossed his mind to build a first class university for Arts, Law, Letters and Humanities since the Ashanti is typically loud.
A clear case is themany people in movies at Kumawood could benefit from proper and quality training too which could be part of a Faculty.

You are yakagbomor indeed. As your name is so you are. For those of you who do not understand Ga, yakagbomor means a worthless or useless person. So this man insulting Sowah is actually a true yakagbomor. Otherwise why would he insult Sowah for stating the truth. Again the ignorance we talk about. When we talk about a manager most ignorant people only think office and suit. Engineering graduates are managers but the work in the field. They are managers of projects and systems. They are on the oil rigs, in the mines, at the dams managing electricity generation, in assembly plants managing and supervising production, on the highway and road sector managing and constructing roads and bridges. Can ignorant people like Yakagbomor type give us a break from the ignorance and arrogance? We have a nation to build and we need peace of mind to think through that.

KNUST was set up to develop technocrats. Period. When cheap minded people called scholars begin to introduce the humanities to undermine the sciences, that is when the problem began. Just imagine the number of universities offering marketing courses in Ghana. Too many marketing graduates more than enough for the few technocrats that KNUST had produced in the past who are supposed to do the manufacturing and the industries for the marketing students to market. Now KNUST is following the rest and very soon KNUST will be producing more lawyers and humanities graduates than engineers, scientists, doctors, mathematicians etc. They are easy and cheap to produce lol. Are we therefore surprised we are lacking far behind now in development? Left to me we remove this non-productive lecturers and replace them with good and innovative Ghanaians from outside. The whole country is upside down and lest I forget some of these non performing assets as crazy as the word graduate and instead of looking for something to do foolishly join politics: the likes of the empty headed Ablakwahj, sam George, Victoria hamma, Yammin etc and just insult Ghanaians. KNUST should go back to its mandates!!!!!!

Are you sure the names you mentioned are the problem? If so l thought you could mention somebody like DIRTY Kufour who was educated in England and was a president that had all the HIPC authority of magnificient possibilities to ask help for our education sector that could have brought more of our students to study in the technical universities at least in China.
He, Kufour should have initiated something more technical in Ghana because here in overseas we see the out come of technical base economies like we see in CHINA or others in the Far East. They develop and we cherish so why cant KUFOUR follow up. At least Mahama did something about our technical universities that if Akuffo Addo would acknowledge the realities on the ground and would not be like Kufour l believe this law and humanities will vanish from the KNUST.
Basically you showed concern of paramount importance of the way law and humanities had been introduced into KNUST which never talk well of the expectation we all have for such a prestigious varsity. Your tribal mentality and one sided mind drove you into the mud
to attack only the NDC guys without mentioning any of the similar charactered guys in the NPP party you tribally support.
That is not the way to put your good mind through. I pinpointed my reasons why l see Kufour dirty because he failed to develop the university at stake into full grown technical base yet he talked bad about Nkrumah who built the KNUST of a visoionary mindset.

It is unfortunate that they say negative things about Nkrumah out of tribal and political party hatred, if not why should Kufour who has no class of Nkrumah level and leadership qualities could last week or so come out to lambast him, Nkrumah when he, Kufour sits down there and watching that Technological university becoming a law and arts classrooms, without a word to prove his awareness of the change of course of the KNUST. Shame unto KUFOUR AND OTHERS of similar minds with all the education they claimed they otained.
Are they not seeing what is happening in the fast developing nations like Taiwan, India, South Korea, China, Singapore, Malaysia etc that our nation had turn to some of them to borrow money for our developments? Are those nations' technical universities turned to law and arts studies? Greedy and bastard politicians of low class mentality yet they all rush to lead a nation with their political parties so that they spoil the nation for the future of our children.
There is no way God will leave any of you these selfish, bastard and greedy politicians free of punishment since you don't fear God for anything. No wonder that university could or had become law and arts institution because which of the visionless politicians of no good idea of nation's development are of technical background and awareness of real national development and progress that generate from home like that of the Chines that they could alloow themselves to be motivated by those qualities in order to help build a real university of technical base.
Do we in Ghana not see that all those
bloody awful politicians are village oriented educated buffoons whose village inclined life only opened their minds into knowing only law and arts courses which they use especially, LAW to bully their village people? It is sad that most of them who had foolishly come out to rule Ghana never have the intelligence required for a nation's development hence allow the KNUST to be what it is, without even being aware of the happenings there.
All they know is to fight over 4x4 SUV vehicles, a sign of further ''villageous'' mindset educated politicians. They only interested in loans, what a shame and not even interested in sending about 5,000 students yearly to CHINA on educational bilateral agreement to study AT THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITIES IN CHINA.
Shame unto the village politicians. Nkrumah wasn't angel, but could see far than all of you, therefore your negative comments about him would surely turn against you in all areas of your life in relation to our nation's developments.

In trying to justify why professors of Mechanical Engineering at the KNUST could not repair their vehicles when they break down, academicians of this university have come out to claim that these KNUST professors could not do so because they are not mechanics - even though these same people teach automobile engineering. This is unpardonable and these professors could be forgiven if they were physicists - remember most of the theories and formulae in mechanical engineering are produced by physicists. This is shocking because I don't know the kind of engineering training these KNUST professors are offering our youth and I can now see why products of our universities become useless when they don't get others to employ them. It will be very shocking to see a professor of mining engineering who cannot do blasting or use the theodolite to do surveying and so professors of KNUST have no excuse. It appears that education in Ghana is not meant to empower the youth for good deeds but just a means to seek white-colour jobs. Elsewhere it is not so. I once worked with a Ghanaian agriculturist, trained in Romania, as teachers in a secondary school. This man was teaching General Agric, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry whiles I handled Maths, Gen Science and Farm Mechanization. This man was so good at his area that I asked him why he is different from his counterparts trained in Ghana. It was after my inquiry the man told me that in Romania, to be an agriculturist, you need to be trained in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the programme. The practical aspects include plowing, shooting, swimming, how to set traps for different rodents that destroy crops, how to dismantle the engine of a tractor and fix it , basic animal surgery, how to construct silos and other storage facilities, etc. When he was posted to teach at the secondary school, he really inspired his students with his practical know-how. What even baffled me in that school was that the school was having survey instruments like the chain, theodolite, ranging poles, prismatic compasses, etc, yet the geography tutor, who was a graduate teacher from the University of Ghana could not use them - even though the geography syllabus at the SSCE level demanded that students should learn how to use them. I had to teach them the use of those instruments although I am not a university graduate. So you see how our intellectuals are misleading the youth.

Interesting comments to read on a Monday. Some claiming ignorance, others myopic, another group referring to others as vision-less and the rest insults.
Let's reflect: Because the university was built as a science and technology institution and also has a Faculty of Arts if the "sciences" are not thinking to go beyond their original vision in a modern day world the faculty of Arts should not think and remain because that is not the vision of the university. Science is not growing so arts don't grow and don't have a vision.
Let us do better with our thinking. Is it fair to say that because people are unable to think that is why everything is Nkrumah's vision. Can we grow past that vision?
