Jerry John Rawlings has stated that greed among some party members led to their loss in the 2016 general elections. He claimed corruption increased to insane levels under John Mahama and accused them of departing from the values of probity and accountability which formed the basis under which the party was formed. According to him, it was mainly because of the corruption that the NDC lost power to the governing New Patriotic Party.

I usually respect you but with this one, you are out of point, you just said the man was arrested to be killed for the coup and it was the same coup that later gave birth to NDC, do you think NDC could have been strong as it is if Rawlings influence and power was not there, even NPP which was very formidable could not do anything under him because of the kind of power he had and NDC benefited immensely from that, no one can take that credit from him, which of the current NDC guys were not under him? Why was he single out? Why was he arrested? Don't be hypocrite, when it comes to Nkrumah, you are happy and proud to say he is the founder of Ghana a whole nation but when it comes to a party a small unit under Ghana which some one found you say no, what is the difference, when you agree Ghana was foundered by it founding fathers and not 1 person as the sole founder then NDC will take Rawlings out.
