NDC guys are crooks. The other time Dr Apaak, a presidential staffer under Mahama, came out to claim that an amount of $5.9M was rather the cost of the new Veep Mansion. Then NDC Deputy Minority leader, James Klutse Avedzi, also said the amount is $5.0M. Now the NDC General Secretary is saying the amount is $3.5M. It is only the NPP that has remained consistent with $13.9 so far. It appears the NDC is not saying the truth. They are doing this to defend Thief Mahama at all cost. However, pressure mounted on the NDC has forced Allotey Jacobs, the NDC chairman for Central Region to admit guilt. He stated on Peace Fm that the fresh document from Consar on the cost of the project brings finality to the controversy surrounding the cost, adding that contesting the cost is impossible.“With what has come from Consar Limited, it is difficult to defend this issue. They are on the job and what they have put out settles the controversy surrounding the cost of the project. If Consar themselves have put out this information, then what do I have to say…nothing.” IT IS ONLY THIEVES WHO WILL ALWAYS DEFEND THEIR FELLOW THIEF AT THE PERIL OF THEIR LIVES.

Dr Akanbon was a very effective leader who is able to stop revenue leakages by using technology. Those who could not steal any longer set upon him using smear campaigns and unsubstantiated allegations. It is very clear that Dr Akanbon was also targetted because he does not hail from Tamale. He comes from Sandema.
But we are very good at shooting ourselves in the foot. Dr Akanbon is a physician specialist who not only managed Tamale teaching hospital but also trained other physicians through his teaching work at the University of Development Studies. He was indeed appointed by former President Mahama as CEO but the former president appointed Dr Akanbong purely on merit; the only young Physician specialist from the North willing to work in the North at the time he was appointed.
His appointed met a lot of protest from day one because he did not belong to a preferred tribe. He has been faced with one false allegation after another since he was appointed. The precedence has been set by the NPP where competent doctors, who were previously excluded from partisan politics, are now being sacked on the basis of party loyalty. This is the beginning of the spell of doom for our health care delivery system.
It is very disappointing to start sacking competent, sort after specialist skills such as medicine because of political expediency. I hope Akuffo Addo is able to start this madness before it transcends into affecting the quality of care one receives is based on one's political colours.
The numbers are increasing; Korle Bu hospital, Ridge Hospital, Tamale Hospital. where next?
These Doctors have taken a hipprocatic oath but the action of government is making it difficult for them to uphold this oath.
Stop interfering in the appointment of medical and health personnel else we risk absolute chaos in our health care delivery systems.

Sir , managing a hospital by a physician does not necessarily result in better patient care.? The issues a CEO of a hospital has to deal with have nothing to do with the hyppocratic oath . We must recognize that medical doctors are not necesssrily the best talent to run hospitals.? Managers are trained to manage and unless we recruit management talent to either run hospitals as CEOs or for them to work under titular physician CEOs , health care delivery systems at large ambulatory hospitals in Ghana would continue to be deficient or challenged?
Rather that politicize who runs hospitals , our health policy focus must be preventive health care. Most of our nedical issues stems from environmental ( communicable diseases ) and lifestyle conditions ( diets and toxic consumables). We must focus on local clinics and education not building of large hospitals that can become incubators of killer germs and viruses.
So Mr Earl Jones ,with all due respect, the conversation must rather be about better healthcare and not about who runs hospitals and their political or tribal affiliations? No one is indispensable? God made sure we have a replacement cycle on earth: birth and death! Finally no one must come tell us to clean our houses or stop consuming toxtic substances? Good water and electricity are basic to healthier lives and longer life expectancy. That is where our focus must be.

Dr Akanbong's vilification is not because he is a medical Doctor. A medical doctor can manage a hospital with the necessary management training. I believe senior doctors are put on some form of management training. Personally, I think Health services administrators should be managing our hospitals so that the doctors will be clinical directors of the services that they provide. But this case is point is about natives trying to get rid of a doctors because he does not come from the area. Tamale teaching hospital is a referral centre for the whole of the North and so any person from Ghana should qualify to manage the hospital.
The agitation against Dr Akanbong has nothing to do with his competence as a CEO but about tribal bigots seeing everything in parochial tribal terms.
If the ministry of Health must come up with a comprehensive job description of who can be a CEO for a hospital. Doctors and other health care professionals are best placed to run our hospitals.

@Earl Jones, do u really know what u are talking about? What do u mean by "preferred tribe"? Dr Akanbon is from upper east right? Where does Dr David Kolbila who's replacing him also come from? Is he not also from the same upper east? U are rather a tribalist who look at every issue with a tribal spectacle. Chief executive positions in most public institutions are political offices, especially those who are appointed directly by the president and so a new president reserves the right either to maintain them or replace them. Get this fact and stop ur tribal bigotry.

I can also tell Dr. Akanbong is lower in qualification because he doesn't belong to the WA College of Surgeons if yo know what it takes; David is a member.
These facts were ignored during the interview for his appointment because of political heavy weights. That's not to say I support 'political' appointment into technical positions if that's what is repeating here. We need the best for Ghana. Let's live to see if this appointee performs. Let the people judge.
