Agric educcation must be sent to technical schools. That is what is done in most civilized countries. Agrculture, like any other profession, has the scholars/theorists and activists/practitioners. Those who want to be Agric practitioners/activists should go to the technical schools whiles those who want to be Agric theorists and scholars should go to the SHS and read science. This is what will solve the problem. It is unfortunate our universities teach students theory and at the same time want them to go and practice.

Countless nations across the globe are pouring money and resources into IT, engineering and biotechnology. The reasons are simple; they see a future in these courses. One feature of these nations is that, their barns are full. They are self suficient or have the financial resources to feed their people comfortably.
Unfortunately, we find ourselves on the initial rangs of the development ladder and cant even feed our people.
A hungry man is not innovative,
a hungry man isnt hardworking,
a hungry man finds it hard to be honest.
Please invest more resources in our Agric schools and institutions. They still have a role to play in national development. Provide more scholarships, international partnerships with more advanced institutions and expose them to hi-tech farming methods.

Nice observation but who we blame?
I'm surprised someone of your status in GES in making this pronouncement.
What do you expect when Agric Science is no longer a course of study at the basic level on its own.
