I also heard that, the Chief bribed Mahama and he refused to take the money. He added more to it but he still refused so on his way to jogging he met a woman whom he asked a certain road that leads to a place. After he left the woman went and reported him to the chief and he organised the men in the village and they started following him. He was having a small gun on him so when he saw them he took on his knees. But because he didn't know the village very well they caught him and started hitting him with stones. He told them he was a soldier man but what they said was and so what? Some took blocks and started hitting him on the head whilst others were holding thick sticks and were using it to hit him on his head. One guy removed his dress as they continued to hit him on his head. When they realized he was dead then one woman came and light a matches on him. I feel the Chief was scared that Mahama will reveal his secret and organized the men to kill him. That is what I head but I don't know the truth of it since the stories are many. I alos heard that is how they are. The people there are rude and have been km lling people who comes there to protect the galamsay. They should be will dealt with the total people in the village not exempting anybody at all for they are all wicked people.

When the universal outrage has died down the country will forget the horrible circumstances of his murder. Mob justice seems to be in the DNA of our country. This needs to be stopped. Something positive and sustained needs to e done to delete this blot on our perceived civilisation. The Ghana Bar Association, the Chief Justice, the police and all relevant wings of state should mount a sustained campaign to educate the masses that suspected criminals including those caught red handed SHOULD not be harmed in any way. They should be handed over to the police to deal with them. One would be tempted to ask 'what about armed robbers?' Those engaged in arm shoot out with the armed forces is a different matter!! We must not forget that any of us, friends or relations could be innocent victims of mob justice. Not long ago a Lawyer who parked his car near a chemist at Tema lorry park to buy some medicine was nearly lynched as a suspect pickpocket .Parliament should without delay enact a legislation outlawing mob justice. A legislation to criminalise mob justice should be called 'Major Maxwell Mahama Law' I would suggest.
