Mr Yaw Ofori Debrah, the President of Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations, must fight for them; and not only said a monthly stipend to the survivors was a good idea and urged the victims to form a coalition as a pressure group to defend their rights under Ghana’s Disability Act, 715.
“Severely deformed victims could be considered for the LEAP programme once they can prove beyond all doubts that they are not physically strong to undertake any income earning activity” Mr Debrah said.
He also called on government to help make lives better for the survivors.

why do Ghanaians want everything for free and whine so much; this mishap is partly due to the behaviour of these same people who have been clogging drainage paths with filth; is it the responsibility of the government to give monthly payments to all people who have been caught in disasters throughout the country; your best cause is to sue the operator who left gas at a place they were not supposed to leave it and not the government

What happened is most unfortunate but to adopt a victim mentality is very worrying. Asking government to pay you monthly is quite overboard. Once we have our health back we should build again.

Why is that, if something bad happenes to any Ghanaian even if it is not the fault of government, Ghanaians wants the government to pay. This nonsense should STOP.

I think the victims should appeal to the government for assistance and this must be done in politeness. In the first place, l can tell how these guys feel but unfortunately Ghana is a third world country unlike the developed countries where it's guaranteed. So I would rather appeal to them to be patient and do it in a peaceful manner since there people living in Ghana for decades facing similar problems. Remember, there's no voted funds for such a thing.
