Look at the many missteps he has made since becoming IGP.Did he have to be told to increase security for the Delta Force trail?Even in the recent lynching case, the millitary got there way before the Police.Had the Soldiers not"taken the law into their own hands"and rushed to the site of the crime to detain suspects from running away the IGP would have taken forever to get his men there. But that is precisely the problem. When the Police refuse/fail to do their jobs properly people are compelled to take the law into their own hands. And when that happens we have lynch mobs and instant mob justice.Ghana has some of the best Police Officers in Africa but they are commanded by some of the worst leadership on the continent. Can anybody say that the current IGP is better than his predecessor who reduced Ghana Police Officers into security guards for NDC politicians? This horrific inccident and many others could have been and a can be prevented if we have a Police force whose duties are not restricted to certain parts of Accra during the daylight.

For this captains own it was the videos and pictures of how they did it makes it very annoying and the sort of zeal they used. His death should call for national prayers to beg for forgiveness of all the innocent souls lynched as well as the quilty ones who were not allowed to face the law and have a second chance. Politicians, Parliamentarians, weak state institutions such as the Judiciary, the Police and even the Army is not exempt. The result is lost of confidence in these institutions, and everybody including the people from the villages knows that, Anas Aremeyaw Anas explained it for all to see, so far nothing has been done to curb the menace of corruption Ken should lead the crusade to stop lyching Ghanaians from the top of Government.

I always restrain myself from replying you so called Nana Kuffour. I don't support killing of anyone but can you tell me that no innocent person was killed by mobs during NDC regime? A lot of innocent people have been killed in Ghana by falsely accusing them of armed robbery. There was a time during NDC 1 when people were accused of making people's manhood disappeared and killed at different places in Ghana. Were you not born at that time? This murder came to light because he was a big person in society. There have been several instances where people have been accused of armed robbery and killed but because they were nobody in life, everybody believed that they are indeed armed robbers and that is the end of the story. Nana Kuffuor the way you do your politics is abhorrent

Such lawless behaviors are recent phenomenon and reflect the loss of faith in our law enforcement and judicial system. As corruption has become the mainstay of life and business we take our frustrations on mob violence in our misguided way of redressing wrongs that the authorities would not redress because of corruption. What happened to the old time mass education of the public. Instill trust in the public and mob violence would disappear. We are generally not a violent people but circumstances alter cases as noses alter faces.

Captain Maxwell Mahama died a gruesome, horrific, uncivilised death at the hands of people who do not know how to properly use their brains and every education of our people on the sanctity of life should be mounted by the state and other public/private organisations like the schools, churches, chiefs, parents, community leaders etc. However, there must be a thorough investigative journalistic piece on that mining activity in the township and the vested interests flushed out for all of us to know. The minister of mines after his tour of Ashanti region indicated that some of the illegal mining sites were being protected by soldiers from our armed forces without any written down protocol from his ministry. His remark was rebuked by the deputy defence minster who said no soldiers were protecting illegal galamsayers. There is something very fishy going on here and if not looked into, the young soldier who was sent into an area by his superiors to do work supposedly on behalf of mother Ghana, would have died in vain. It looks like the armed forces of Ghana are being used to protect private mining interests.IN MOST BANANA REPUBLICS, the law enforcement agencies are controlled by the mafia and organised crime. ARMS AND AMMUNITION FROM THE STATE ARMORY END UP BEING SOLD TO DRUG DEALERS AND ARMED ROBBERS, the military protect illegal mining sites. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT MINING IS GOING ON IN FOREST RESERVES AND THEY ARE DEGRADING THE ECOSYSTEM - rivers, and streams included. I have my doubt whether this current NPP government can really curb the high incidence of galamsey AND DRUGS when some of their party KINGPINS like KENNEDY AGYAPONG IS A DRUG DEALER AND CHAIRMAN WONTUMI IS A GALAMSAYER.

This is some thing that Police Know about it for a long time and as the lawyer said, it is not a new thing in Ghana.People kill thieves or innocent people without any reason and the Police will not do anything about, I arrest those who killed. We have laws in our country but we are not applying them. Cape Coast is one my home town, they kill without sending the person or the thief and they will be scored free. A lady accused me for stealing her check and money in Tarkwa and I helped her, but when we went to the Police station, the Police man asked her how much did I stole from her she couldn't say it and they look at the check it was an old check and they asked her to open or show the money she has, when she opened her parcel she was having 10 cedi's, when they opened my wallet the Police saw I was have $ 600 and 400 cedi's but could you believed that the Police man started striking me and even asked the taxi driver who was my witness to leave the Police station. station. the next day he asked me to give him money and he will free me, so Police are our big problem, the DSP that I spooked with ordered him to release me and I called Accra one senior Police Officer we all worked in the United Nations Police department he asked me to go and see the division commander but nothing was done the only thing they he said to me was he is sorry. Many innocent Ghanaians are victims.

In August 2007, my brother, a second year student (first class) of the physics department of KNUST left our town with my father to receive medical treatment for a high fever related condition in Accra before school starts in a week's time. They arrived in Accra late hoping to visit the hospital the next morning. Late at night my brother sneaked out and was no where to be found the next morning. My brother's lifeless body was found in three days time battered heavily for whatever sins, who knows? May his soul rest in perfect peace. Till date the corrupt police institutions has done nothing about it because their palms have not been greased. Now the case is a COLD ONE. Had the whole university descended to the area where his body was found just like the soldiers in the case of captain Mahama, maybe the outcome would have been different. Ghana had been brought on it's knees by corrupt politicians corrupting every institution in our country. It's a shame! Police in Japan will investigate and find the murderer of even a day old baby and the Judiciary will punish him/her accordingly. Shame on politicians who have succeeded to make corruption so pervasive in every sphere of our society.
