SERIOUSLY. A & J ALASKA MINING COMPANY HAS NO CEO OR DIRECTOR COMING FORWARD TO OFFER CONDOLENCES. ONLY JOHN MAHAMA, AS THE REAL OWNER, IS TRULY SHOWING ALL THE SIGNS OF SYMPATHY. HE HAS EVEN OFFERED TO LOOK AFTER MAXWELL'S WIFE AND CHILDREN, WITH THE AIM OF USING THE YOUNG WIDOW AS AN EXPERIMENTAL DRUG FOR HIS FAMOUS PRIAPISM. HANNAH TETTEH WHO KNOWS ABOUT THE DEAL WAS ALSO ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE TO COMMENT. WE DIDN'T KNOW THE EX PRESIDENT HAD ARRANGEMENTS IN PLACE FOR HAND PICKED SOLDIERS TO BE SENT TO HIS GALAMSEY SITES, WHICH WERE ALSO A SECRET. WE DIDN'T KNOW INDIGENES WERE NOT EMPLOYED AT THE BOASE DENKYIRA MAHAMA-OWNED GALAMSEY MINE. BUT THERE'S ONE THING WE KNOW NOW: THE NDC UNDER MAHAMA ENCOURAGED WIDESPREAD POISONING OF OUR WATER BODIES. IT'S CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY USING WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION: CYANIDE AND MERCURY.

When the people have faith in the system they will use it.
Going to ICC does not do anything for anyone -- this was a mob action that happens more often than it should resulting in senseless deaths. The people misdirect their frustrations to the wrong people, they should emulate Burkina Faso where they attacked parliament -- we need action and our parliament is useless.
If Mahama had strengthened our system perhaps his nephew would be alive today. The new administration should focus on security and the mob action will stop.

Anybody knows you hear the name Mahama and you know some sophisticated fishy business or crime is being committed using various institutions as their camouflage cover . You listen to the various videos and you may even hear the gunshots of the captain shooting at the people but no where was he shouting as required to identify himself. Because the people are Akans its easier to blame them instead of finding out the truth. The story doesnt add up , anyone who has taken the time to travel around most pats of the Central region will observe even in the middle of the night even white girls , tourists Europeans and other foreigners walking alone or roaming around unaccompanied and nothing ever happens to them . But then again every once in a while we hear of some white-man being killed because of some gold deal. Lynching is wrong but this has elements of self defense and over reactions to it, remember he fired his gun at the people before with courage they disarmed him . It would have been better if they had handed him over to the police but we all know he would have paid a bribe and those who had apprehended him would have been languishing in jail . There can be no peace without the assurance of justice. On this forum we notice all the lying hypocrites who have come out to condemn the town but fail to notice the crimes committed like corruption , nepotism , incompetence etc. A sin is a sin and a crime a crime , why turn a blind eye to corruption and yet talk shit about one lynch. Police stations are being burned to the ground and now most security agency personnel are scared and shitting in their pants because soon the people will arise. Npp , Ndc and most of the media are in a hype propaganda mode to blame the innocent people of the town rather than properly look at the suspicious activities of the captain . First he was jogging alone with a gun in plain sight . Rather than identify himself chose to engage in shooting at the residents , a sign of substandard training or criminal intent . He was on duty and an officer but had no other lower ranking soldiers accompanying him , was he deployed there to be on holiday so could go jogging around ? Never trust these security forces especially the army as they are involved in all kinds of criminal activity and always have sophisticated propaganda lies to make it appear they did nothing wrong. A wise man once said its stupidity to know the truth but chose to believe the lie.

No, I smell some politics here and not scared to voice out that, a family member close to the Ndc party is trying to make this tragic incident political.
The family have to be careful because all Ghanaians are grieving with their loss. Captain Mahama from all indications had a great future in front of him and these thugs have snuffed it out but he is not the first innocent victim of the primitive instance justice stupidity in Ghana.
The family risks losing the support of a section of Ghanaians if they allow Ndc to influence them. This is a national tragedy Ndc should not be allowed to divide the country.

I sympathize with the family. I haven't experienced such a lose but I can still imagine how devastating effects this lose could do to me.
My advice is that the family should have faith in the government to deliver justice. Utterances like international court, lawyers, politics, shouldn't be part of their vocabulary. People do not win when they start doubting the system. Please no politics in this. We are even lucky that this case is taking most of our news space because of the person involved. Innocent lives are being lost each and every day, not only in Ghana but almost all the black , Asian and Arab communities all over the world.
Internationalizing local issues is not what some of us expect as proud citizens of a sovereign country. These people always laugh at us any time we go to them to seek judgement. Imagine what the government and the justice system will feel when when they hear talking about international court in tis matter?
Don't let a particular party influence your actions in this case. It will make the family look stupid. Some group of people think the only way they can get justice is when they go international. Don't be part of these people.
Tsatsu had a case, international; wayomi has a case, international; ndc and bond issue, international; ahhh! What is happening? Are these groups not Ghanaians?
Please, for all you may know this dear boy's death may mark the end to mob justice in Ghana. In that case, he will be remembered as a hero.
Nana, this is a clear opportunity for you to correct the justice system. You can also be a hero here if you can successfully tackle mob justice. Don't just see it as only a sad story but an advantage to correct the justice system. The people, the government, the chiefs, the police as well as the court itself should respect and apply the law accordingly.

Why is the family of the slain soldier threatening to go to the ICC? To whom is the threat addressed? A crime has been committed, and the accused have been arraigned before court. So what is the purpose of attempting to preempt the outcome of the criminal proceedings? There are competent courts in Ghana with the responsibility to conduct the trial of the accused. Has justice been denied in this case? What makes this family doubt that justice will be done? After all the deceased, a soldier, was a an employee of the Ghana government, and the Commandet in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces is on record that no one will be spared in respect of the crime. It's not as if the deceased was killed by government agents on the instructions of the government; or that he was lynched because he was a prominent member of the opposition party? In effect what this family appears to be saying is that: the accused MUST be convicted, otherwise they will not be satisfied that justice has been done. If there is no conviction then justice wouldn't have been served. This in a way, is calculated to put pressure on the court, to arrive at a guilty verdict. However the law doesn't operate that way. The outcome of a criminal trial cannot be predicted with certainty. If the evidence is so overwhelming as to leave no doubt as to the guilt of the accused, definitely they will be convicted. However, if after a fair trial, with due legal representation for the accused, a verdict of not guilty is handed down, one cannot run to the ICC crying that there has been injustice. The family should be well advised to ascertain, before going to the ICC, that the lynching of their relative falls under the jurisdiction of the ICC, and if it does, to satisfy the ICC as to why it should assume jurisdiction, in the face of an independent judiciary in Ghana. If every crime committed in a democratic country, governed under the rule of law, should be referred to the ICC, this would mean that the ICC would be swamped with thousands of cases, and as a corollary, there would be no need for national courts.

What makes you think that our justice system will fail? Since you monitor cases in Ghana, do the family a favour by advising them about the type of cases that may be referred to the ICC, and the circumstances under which a case may be referred to the ICC. The Court's founding treaty, called the Rome Statute, grants the ICC jurisdiction over four main crimes.
First, the crime of genocide is characterised by the specific intent to destroy in whole or in part a national, ethnic, racial or religious group by killing its members or by other means: causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group.
Second, the ICC can prosecute crimes against humanity, which are serious violations committed as part of a large-scale attack against any civilian population.
Third, war crimes which are grave breaches of the Geneva conventions in the context of armed conflict and include, for instance, the use of child soldiers; the killing or torture of persons such as civilians or prisoners of war; intentionally directing attacks against hospitals, historic monuments, or buildings dedicated to religion, education, art, science or charitable purposes.
Finally, the fourth crime falling within the ICC's jurisdiction is the crime of aggression. It is the use of armed force by a State against the sovereignty, integrity or independence of another State.
I don't think any of the foregoing has been met to warrant going to the ICC. This case should be tried in Ghana court.
My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
