IS MAXWELL MAHAMA A LOW QUALITY CAPTAIN?
From what I am deducing from the cause of death of Capt Maxwell Mahama, it appears GAF is not offering high quality training to their officers. The death of Cletus Avoka's son on GAF training ground is still fresh in our memory. The death of another young captain, even though unfortunate, was avoidable for the following reasons: 1) How can a military officer loss his bearing in his command area. It does not make sense to me since the first thing he should have done was to study the terrain carefully, with the help of his adjutants, to the extent of knowing the adjoining villages, communities and towns and the main and auxilliary routes. This is very important because in case the platoon wants to beat a retreat as a result of any attack, they should know exactly where there are going. 2) Since Dankyira area is not a war zone, the first port of call should have been to the chief's palace and then familiarization with members of the community. If this had been done, at least, someone among the mob would have identified him. 3) He being new in the area, he should have embarked on the jogging with his adjutant because the mere deployment of the military to that zone to guide a civilian facility should have informed the young captain that there is a potential security risk in the area.

Take a little time to read through what the man wrote. Agbesi made a strong point that the mere fact that he was deployed to the area tells the place is a high risk area. You wouldn't understand because you are not one of us. I am surprised myself why the chiefs and the people did not know that the military had been deployed to the area. Secondly, why would a captain that command a company will go jogging in a high risk area in civilian clothes with a weapon?. I am absolutely NOT condoning the youths action however i can also see some error here. My prayers to his family and may his soul rest in peace comrade

Maybe the president will finally sit up and do something.

While I agree that the president has tasked others with responsibility to deal with these matters, his deafening silence has been amazing to me. Perhaps, it is due to lack of experience. At some point, he should step up and show some leadership.

I cannot help but think that if the president had said something earlier, we would not know who Captain Mahama is today.

1st,Hon Peter amawu said the military were giving illegal miners protection.
2nd, a duty minister of defence,Maj.Oduro denied it n called Peter amawu a liar n that the military was not part in anyway.
Now, the various affected communities of illegal mining activities who felt insulted by the assertion of the duty minister n the denial that the no military man nor any commanding officer has men on the ground could have (my opinion) triggered this barbaric action to proof to the deputy minister that he doesn't know what affects them.
It could (I condemned? the action though) have been the main factor that annoyed the people to take the law into their own hands.
Our Ieaders are our problems.the jump into defending without any proof.
Still my opinion. Condolences to Barbara n the Capt mahama' parents.

The nation and people I took an oath to defend and fight for took my innocent life
Tell mama that the flesh she cared for and cleaned was burnt by another mama without thinking of how difficult it is to carry a baby for 9 months
My lifeless body lie before this brainwashed people who are pounding it with logs and blocks without mercy
My soul is somewhere resting but won't cease to cry for mother Ghana and Africa for its children now value wealth, materials and money than a loyal servant who left his two kids and a wife at home to protect their water bodies and air.
It's a pity that our own people could treat me like a stranger in the very soil that witnessed my cry

The tears I shed as am leaving is not in pain but I fear mother Ghana will be scared to bring another loyal and devoted soldier who will wake up at dawn to train to keep its people secured and free to live.
The very land and water bodies I was protecting is where my mortal remains rest.
To my colleague soldiers am leaving behind, don't let my demise make you sad or demoralized.......keep the spirit up and save mother Ghana for it deserves better than this people who were not even ready to listen to my innocent voice.

A country whose motto should read "Each one for himself, God for us" instead of " Freedom and Justice" We pride Ghana as the black star of Africa which indeed the BLACKness of the star does not shine Africa.
