I wish my President concentrate more time on finding ways to effectively deal with CORRUPTION. It is what is killing Ghana. When we begin punishing the THIEVES SEVERELY, it will be enough deterrent.

This is all empty talk with nothing to show for. A complete exercise in futility and waste of time.

All these countries the President is busy touring are members of ECOWAS, a regional organization that is supposed to facilitate especially intra trade among its 15 members. Since its inception in May 28,1975, intra trade among members is only 13%, in exactly 42 years after the fact. What is the point of Akufo-Addo spending his valuable time to visit these countries, pledging to strengthen bilateral relations with these losers? Is trade not the foundation of ECOWAS protocol? If after 42 years only 13% intra trade exits among member countries, then why bother?

These Africans meet every year in an elaborate fanfare and sign all kinds of accords; they go home and forget them. I suspect this is the reason Mauritania left ECOWAS in 2002; these Africans talk without backing it up. If I have my way, I would give ECOWAS an ultimatum to make the ECOWAS protocol binding to member nations, if not I will pull Ghana out of that useless organisation as Mauritania did in 2002.

Here is where Mali's exports go; China 26.7%; France 11.4%; Thailand 10.7%; Denmark 6.4%. Where is Ghana?
Akufo-Addo also wasted his time visiting another ECOWAS member, Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone's major trading partners are Belgium, US, and Spain. Where is Ghana? He was also in Liberia, and where do Liberia's export go? They all go to mainly India, Belgium, Poland, and Germany. Where again is Ghana?

Who are these Africans kidding? If I have my way, I will pull Ghana out of this useless regional organization in a heart's beat. Akufo-Addo is another useless Ghanaian President, just like the rest of them, JJ Rawlings, JA Kufuor, Atta Mills, and JD Mahama. They all useless - they have no conviction of purpose.

I agree with you that Ghana is not taking advantage of the huge regional market Ecowas offers for our locally manufactured goods.So far Nigeria is the only country in West Africa that is making the concerted effort to supply the Ecowas economies with their products.I don't think developing closer ties to our neighbours is a useless exercise.However I wish Akuffo Addo had been accompanied on his visits by CEOs of some of our major companies such as Goil and producers of Nampa Tuna.With the doors opened by such visits we could line Ecowas with Goil franchise Filling Stations as Shell and Exxon have done throughout the world.Instead we look on helplessly as millions of dollars worth of petrol and oil products are smuggled out of the country to Ivory Coast,Burkina,Togo and even Benin
every day.We need to take advantage of the opportunities Ecowas present instead of complaining or giving up.

This is a valid point and I appreciate it. Our leaders do not think deep enough; as you suggested if governments in ECOWAS countries are serious about promoting trade amongst themselves by traveling with CEOs, I am sure intra trade within themselves will be more than 13%, but as I said there is no conviction of purpose for these African leaders. There is no pressure on them to perform - Akufo-Addo is perhaps treating these visits as a vacation.
