Too much talking, polythecnics in ghana are all not up to standards. Let drive competition in our education system by allowing privite technical schools in germany, sweden, south korea and japan to set up sister schools here in ghana only in technical education to train our future modern workforce. These schools in some western and asian countries would beg our government to come to ghana because first of all we have almost all the minerals in the World in this small country called ghana, and that is an advantage for research and innovation and also we have very Young and brilliant and industrious minds. jUST give these schools 20 years tax free to attract these high Tech schools into Ghana. It would be even be of great help for our 17th Century teachers that are destroying the future of our Children and education in ghana because they themselves are not enlightened.

Just because we have enabled ignorant politicians and the educated elite class to ruin Ghana does not mean we ought to look to other nations to setup shops in Ghana. The irony of Prof Achaw's nonsense is that he has no clue that he called out university education in Ghana to be relatively inferior and the graduates that have come through their doors as ill-prepared classroom educated which is a shame and unfortunate. Prof Achaw may want to revisit his dissertation or research work if he has any dignity left. Could Prof. Achaw list universities across Canada, USA, UK and other civilized nations where technical institutions are better equipped than universities where field of study offerings and certification/diploma are same?
In Gernany, Scandinavian nations and American countries community colleges and technical institutions exists precisely because of leaders and educators with foresight. In Ghana we have bred generations of educators and politicians, including Prof Achaw, who have memorized textbooks from cover to cover and yet to know anything else viable to talk about. In most of the civilized nations I've listed, high school students and other high school dropouts use technical institutions to acquire trade specific skills. As such private industry in collaboration with technical institutions help fund specific or specialized trade and trade skills curriculum so that those who successfully complete those trade specific skills can fill industry skills gap. But in private industry and with government research, scientific discoveries have come mostly at the universities that you, Prof. Achaw seem to dismiss out of your own ignorance and political agenda that fits nicely in the ongoing scramble for tax payer money and riches taking shape under the Nana Akufo-Addo administration. All you have to do is hitch your tent with people desperately seeking to sell off Ghana to make a few in the Nana Akufo-Addo administration filthy rich. Without research, discoveries and scientific developments, industry will stay dormant and stale; there will be no new product lines coming around that will justify hiring more workers by private industry. So if your professorial inklings were worth a damn, you Prof. Achaw would rather advocate for recertification of equipment and tools across Ghana's universities and not a juvenile advice of the kind you gave.

I think you just got my point of the discusion wrong and neither did l say let sell ghana out. if you could read my piece again l was basically talking about competition, innovation which is lacking in our education system. Government can't equipe our universities, polythenics,SHS,JSS and others with the small financial resources that we don't have as a country at present, so let think outside the box by bringing in privite capital in our education system which would drive competition and innovation while helping us build the most modern workforce in the world. Let say government could equipe our universities presently with the state of the art tools and equipement basically the hardware component of it, what about our professors, lectures and teachers in our tertiary instutions which 95% of them wouldn't get a job in comparism with other countries which we are in competition with, remember we are into competition with other countries and not in isolation and it's competition that is driving innovation in this century. Education is very capital intensive so government don't have the money to re-equipe expensive research tools and equipements every 6-12 months and not in our part of the world. So the solution is let think outside the box, bring in schools and government is not going to pay a penny, but give these schools from western and asiatc countries tax free and land to build the schools because they have the experience, capital, good technical know-how and the exposure which our prof.Achaw don't have and it will change the mind set of Ghana on how we see education. l am not saying don't invest in our schools but bring in these schools to compliment what government is trying to do but also tertiary education especially the technical schools to international standards which will make our schools to catch up to them and that is the competition which l am referening.
