A few months before the elections of 2016, I actually saw one of his deputy ministers state on Ghana TV, that they (meaning the deputy minister, and his minister, Nii Lantey), will "show" the Ghana Football Association, where "power lies", after the election. Ghana Ian are a cantankerous lot, and they require a certain amount of cajoling and browbeating to move them forward. This threat by the deputy minister however, has to be taken in the contest of all the other actions that Nii Lantey has been reported taking. Slapping people because he did not like what they say, etc. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, is a walking illustration of something written by Thucydedes, an ancient Greek historian, to wit, "of all the manifestations of power, restraint impresses man the most". One of the tragedies of the NDC in general, and if the Atta Mills and Mahama's administrations in particular, is that young people with shallow or no intellect were given great responsibilities and power and they run amok. They had no money when they assumed office, so they stole state resources en masse. Pity!

An NDC member from Cape Coast at Kantamanto market was given a beaten of his life by Nii Lantey's goons when he tried to register, because he is an Akan. The Akans heard him well and the result is what he saw. He was the one that said In Cape Coast that Ghana's presidency is not for short people, forgetting that Ghanaians by nature are mostly short people. As a sports minister he should have known better because when our national teams play out her nations our height has always been obvious. Ghanaians cannot forget the impunity he exhibited by instigating the beating of political opponents and sometimes slapping opponents himself, all contributed to their devastating loss. He should not just feel sober but REFLECTIVE because just feeling sober is not enough.
