Yes, I like the directive. Teaching is a profession and teachers must dress professionally.
In the state that I teach, all teachers have dress codes that are strictly enforced. A teacher can easily be sanctioned if the one does not adhere to such codes. Teachers here are always supposed to be in tie, shoes, long sleeved shirts and sometimes suits. Trousers that male teachers wear to school must be dress ones. Teachers cannot wear Jeans to school unless for sports or field day. Even hair do are quickly looked at.
People who will object to this directive by GES fail to realize that teachers are role models to students and society. The way a teacher dresses and comports himself/herself has a serious effects on students. It also make society give them a special respect.

A crowded city at a busy bus stop in Butumajabo, a beautiful young woman wearing a tight leather skirt was waiting for a bus.
As the bus stopped and it was her turn to get on, she became aware that her skirt was too tight to allow her leg to come up to the height of the first step of the bus.
Slightly embarrassed and with a quick smile to the bus driver, she reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little, thinking that this would give her enough slack to raise her leg.
She tried to again take the step, only to discover that she couldn’t.
So, a little more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her to unzip her skirt a little more, and for the second time attempted the step.
Once again, much to her embarrassment she could not raise her leg.
With a little smile to the driver, she again reached behind to unzip a little more and again was unable to take the step.
About this time, a large guy who was standing behind her picked her up easily by the waist and placed her gently on the step of the bus.
The went ballistic and turned to the would-be Samaritan and screeched, "How dare you touch my body! I don’t even know who you are!"
The guy smiled and drawled, "Well, ma’am, normally I would agree with you, but after you unzipped my fly three times, I kind’a figured we were friends.

I think this directive is long over due. It used to be so a couple of years back.
This is the only thing you people can do when a lot of teachers goes into class room to teach without salary u are silent on that. Fight for the government to pay teachers .
They should try and give them a prescribed uniform like the nurses, police, fire service, army, prisons etc.

This directive is not new, it is a reminder to an existing code in the GES dating back in the 1970's if my memories serve me right. We need to leave a legacy for the future generations; there is the need for objectivity.
It pisses me off to hear about teachers dress code in Ghana more especially when it is said male teachers can't wear jeans trousers to school. And that idiot was trying to refer to what is prevailing in the States. We are no ...
