This institution is in our way to progress. Many lost their lives fighting for freedom from our slave masters, but nothing changed under our own traditional rulers, in fact they treated us worse than them. The scientific way of solving problems is unknown to them, rather they promote superstition(animal and even human sacrifices, corruption, intimidation, pronounce you guilty no appeal, disrespect for environment, etc.)
Our culture is primitive and needs modernization. Its time we start talking about it, debate about in in schools and universities, in parliament, every where in order to build consensuses against it and finally move it to the museums.

For how long can the government spend so much money and time to maintain peace at many places in the North? Yet, these areas are so poor. Can't they think about developing their places? They don't deserve Akuffo Addo's factories because if he puts them up and there are disagreements, the people will burn them.
Southners have their share of chieftaincy and land disputes. I can mention Kumawu, Offinso and a few other places. The people may or may not fight but they do not usually destroy property. At Asokore-Koforidua, there has been a chieftaincy problem for about 80 years but the people have never fought before. They always go to court. People from parts from the North need to learn from some Southners. How much did the government spend on the Kokomba-Nanumba conflict? The Bimbila crisis, Bawku and Bolgatanga, Gonja and all the other places? Do they then have the moral rights to cry for development?

They just keep the so called traditions in a computer age. Assemblymen will do far far better in our communities than the so called Chiefs. Their actions are very destructive in the country. They sell the lands and cause confusion in the communities. They just collect goats, schnapps and that is it. It is the government that is tasked to develop the country because they give us jobs and collect our taxes, but these Chiefs do nothing. What then is their relevance? Some of us don't see it. Let allow them to go extinct gradually.

it is unbelievable the things we do to our selves. Our kings and political leaders treat us worse than our colonial masters, they are above the law, they do what they please with the environment, the national cake, our water bodies, resources, etc.) Their style of leadership include lies, fear and intimidation. All they care about is power, money, women and riches.
It's time we start talking about it, debate about it in schools, universities, market places, parliament etc, build consensuses against it and finally remove it to the museums.
We also need to remove idol worshiping(Kwaku Bonsam), fake pastors like Obinim, and all practices based on lies, fear and intimidation from our society, they are things that make us "3rd world" meaning "less intelligent" people.

I have lived and worked at both North and South of the country but people are not happy about such constant conflicts. Was there the need for Kokomba-Nanumba war? What about the Bawku, Bolga, Gonja, Yendi, Bimbila and many other conflicts? It is just stupid for the government to spend so much money on peace keeping, repairs and rebuilding of burnt down towns while the people are crying of their place being neglected. Does that look appealing to you.
The South have their share of conflicts but such conflict are usually devoid of burning down towns, murder etc. People are tired and want to drum home to Northners that Ghanaians have had enough of their conflicts.

In the Kumawu conflict, people were hurt and a few property destroyed. Can you compare that to the Kokoma-Nanumba war where about 3000 people died and tens of thousands displaced? How many soldiers and police were quartered there and for how long to maintain law and order? What about the Bawku, Bolga, Yendi, Bimbila and Gonja conflicts? How long did they last and how many people were displaced? How many towns were razed to the ground and how many schools were closed down? Dumbai training had to be placed under surveillance of armored branch of the military. Yes, I was caught up in that conflict at Dumbai and I can say with confidence what I am saying. The Kumawu chieftaincy problem, just like the one at Offinso is many years old but hardly do we hear them burning houses, displacing people and soldiers being sent to handle the situation. In their situation, there are a few skirmishes as the people block roads and burn tyres. Have you heard of people being displaced there and schools closed down.
I am not being hypocritical but conflicts happen too often in the North and at deadly cost. Can you challenge what I just posited? Just last week it was Savlugu in flames.
There is no way the North can be very well developed if the people can fight and burn towns because of an unsavory comment one of the parties have made. All attempts to solve the Dagbon conflict since the time of Rawlings have failed. Why. Even at the Accra Yam Market they attack each other on the least provocation. If you have any way of helping solve the many violent conflicts at the North, let the various REGSEC know about it because we are tired of spending so much tax money to stop such unreasonable conflicts and also endangering our men and women in uniform.
