Hmm my take is we all came to meet these centuries old traditions and as such we need to accord them some respect even if we do not agree or subscribe to them. The Christian way is to deal with these things in the spirit not in the physical.

I'd like to know how often any of us "Christians" had attempted to evangelise to the adherents of these traditions. That is what God will be asking us one day not how much noise did we make to get these traditions banned.

The other point is you should never disrespect the people (custodians)whose land you live on 24/7 by publicly coming out to criticize their ways. We are blessed to live in peace in Accra; we should not take that hospitality for granted.

Also just because we are "Ghana" and are governed by a constitution does not mean traditional authorities do not have some measure of power. I'm sure the constitution makes provision for their roles.

Lastly if we must criticize then let's do it fairly without fear or favour. The Chief Imam has more or less called his people to war if they (Moslems) are not allowed to bury their dead in Accra during the ban. Why was he mute when the Asantes did the same? Aren't there churches in Kumasi too and don't they have bans on noise making? Once you start picking and choosing whose culture you disparage you lose credibility and become just another ethno centrist.

When asante hene was having the funeral and burial of his mother's carcass and people's movement was being controlled in that dead and forest town of kumasi where were you ? On the night of burial people were made to sleep in the evening around seven o'clock although the actual burial took place at dawn of the following day . Passengers and goods on wheels to kumasi have to halt and pass the night against their will at the outskirts of the dead forest town of kumasi because executes have been released to cut heads of people found on the street . People who felt like attending to nature's call in the night have do it in their rooms and sleep with it until the following morning before they can get rid of it ; such an uncivilized , barbaric , and inhuman tradition , and you were nowhere to stand against it .
Here is a tradition where you can do anything you want except loud noise making and you are blowing your nose.
You have not been stopped from holding church service to take home the huge offering at the expense of the congregation , some of whom are not comfortable with their finances .
Now , tell me , which of the two traditions/costumes is worth protesting against?

as true Christians, there must be a time of quietness and inward contemplation. Since Christians didn't find the common sense to start anything like that, the traditional African believers are doing so and I think it is awesome.

I wish it will become a nationwide practice where for a month or two, there is absolute quietness.

Human beings, these days, are talking too much and can't even discern the voice off Good any more.it's time to a national "QUIET TIME" to help us reconnect with God.

l have been wondering whether this phenomenon of drumming and dancing as a form of worship is Biblical, and in essence Christian at all. Did Jesus,the Messiah, and His followers do that?,if not,who are we following?. Could it be a superimposition of our own tradition of drumming and dancing that we introduced into Christianity when it was brought to us?.Can any student of the Bible please give me references in the Bible where drumming and dancing was used as a form of worship?. And of course,I mean during the advent of Christianity and not the era of Judaism. I am hungry for knowledge because I don't want to perish.

The Pastor is right. Accra is the capital city of Ghana and not a city for the Gas alone.It is not a traditional city for any tribe so the Gas should think of their decision again
