  If Dr Gandau is trully trying to bring people to the hospital,let us all pray he succeeds. There is certain type of mafia mentality that has operated at the Upper West regional health directorate that makes sure that this regional hospital is regional by name only. Any attempt to retain doctors there is subverted because the powers that be, the mafia, doesn't want Wa to have a good hospital. They have tried various ways over the years to frustrate any doctor who comes there and moved them to places like Nandom and Nadowli. Any place but Wa will do. So this guy trying to make it work is going to face problems. this hospital has probably got one of the worst mortality rates in Ghana and no one cares. Virtually all operated patients die either in there or a few months after operation and no one cares. Sometimes there isn't a single doctor at post in this so called regional hospital. I just don't know what these so called hospital administrators at the regioanl level are administing if the can sit down and come to a situation where there isn't a single hospital doctor in a regional hospital. The arrogance of most of the doctors in particular is so bad that one even is afraid to tell them what your illness is. What a mess. The sad thing is that it is people from Upper West who are doing this to themselves in the name of tribalism.

  When Ambrose and Banda were here, they devised a system where Municipal and District Assemblies were contributing to motivate doctors at the regional hospital thereby relieving the hospital from using its meagre resources to motivate the doctors. This region need politicians who can think outside the box like the two personalities mentioned above to lead and develop it. I hope the president will consider one of them for appointment as Regional Minister to move this poor region forward.Currently among Upper Westerners in NPP the two stand tall in terms of development orientation.
