Your contribution to the Ashanti Kingdom is exemplary. It is through your valiant efforts that the Ashanti Region has made tremendous progress in education.

For the past 10 years, Kumasi has always come first in the SHS exams on a city-by-city basis beating other strong educational cities such as Cape Coast and Accra. A recent survey indicated that 80% of students in state universities in Ghana are from 3 regions: Greater Accra, Ashanti and Eastern Region. As a young boy growing up in Kumasi, the city had only a few schools such as Prempeh, Owass and St. Louis that really excelled in national exams. Now the situation is completely different in Kumasi with a larger number of schools doing very well in the SHS exams e.g. Anglican SHS, Kumasi High, Kumasi Girls, Kumasi Academy, Yaa Asantewaa and Asanteman SHS etc. The towns and villages in your kingdom have not been left behind. On a region-by-region basis, Ashanti Region is always in the top 3 out of the 10 regions in the country. There are a lot of schools such as Konongo Odumasi, Tepa SHS and Juaben SHS that have featured regularly in the top 20% of schools in the country. In fact, 3 years ago, Tepa SHS came first in the whole country!!.

As a man who grew up in Kumasi and now has an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from an Ivy League university in the U.S.A., I can safely say that your influence as the King in encouraging education in Ashanti has paid off.

We, the educated men from Kumasi who are pursing professional careers in western countries would like to extend our gratitude to you – Otumfuo Osei Tutu; Krobea Asante Kotokohene - for transforming the educational fortunes of the Ashanti Region.
