In trying to justify why professors of Mechanical Engineering at the KNUST could not repair their vehicles when they break down, academicians of this university have come out to claim that these KNUST professors could not do so because they are not mechanics - even though these same people teach automobile engineering. This is unpardonable and these professors could be forgiven if they were physicists - remember most of the theories and formulae in mechanical engineering are produced by physicists. This is shocking because I don't know the kind of engineering training these KNUST professors are offering our youth and I can now see why products of our universities become useless when they don't get others to employ them. It will be very shocking to see a professor of mining engineering who cannot do blasting or use the theodolite to do surveying and so professors of KNUST have no excuse. It appears that education in Ghana is not meant to empower the youth for good deeds but just a means to seek white-colour jobs. Elsewhere it is not so. I once worked with a Ghanaian agriculturist, trained in Romania, as teachers in a secondary school. This man was teaching General Agric, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry whiles I handled Maths, Gen Science and Farm Mechanization. This man was so good at his area that I asked him why he is different from his counterparts trained in Ghana. It was after my inquiry the man told me that in Romania, to be an agriculturist, you need to be trained in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the programme. The practical aspects include plowing, shooting, swimming, how to set traps for different rodents that destroy crops, how to dismantle the engine of a tractor and fix it , basic animal surgery, how to construct silos and other storage facilities, etc. When he was posted to teach at the secondary school, he really inspired his students with his practical know-how. What even baffled me in that school was that the school was having survey instruments like the chain, theodolite, ranging poles, prismatic compasses, etc, yet the geography tutor, who was a graduate teacher from the University of Ghana could not use them - even though the geography syllabus at the SSCE level demanded that students should learn how to use them. I had to teach them the use of those instrumenst although I am not a university graduate. So you see how our intellectuals are misleading the youth.

could this journalist post the CV of this prof listing her 70 publications? This prof to my knowledge was at the Univ of Cape Coast in the mid 2000s. She became an academic by mid 2000 when she did her master degree. While a prof at her current univ where the Husband prof Alabi was VC, she earned a questionable doctorate at the Univ of Central Nicaragua,That she has risen to become a full professor is great feat but we need to know how she did all this. Reading his full inaugurate address is not enough to tout her accomplishments yet.

KNUST is the most poorest engineering university in the world, all their graduate's sucks , I happen to work with three at GBC Kumasi branch, they don't know anything about engineering, they are just a piece of meat wasted, nobody respect,s them yet they try to show off with their cheap degree nobody wants , I am a self taught software developer , I have developed more than ten web apps and gotten over 20,000 for that, some guys from Catholic university in sunyani offering computer science came to me for their project works, which I charged them 1,000 CEDI's each for the project yet they paid without hesitation, those guys are far worse than the KNUST engineers I work with , they don't know anything about computer science , I will advice anybody so wants to be an engineer not to go near any university in the country, if you want to be an engineer first make sure you have great passion for it , cos engineering is all about solving problems, make sure you love problem solving, then make the Internet your best friend, MTN do offer some package that I believe is OK , it has helped me a lot back then , 3cedis for 5GB data from 12 am to 5 am , off course you have to sacrifice your sleeping time today for your future tomorrow, go after any topic you like on YouTube , Download as much tutorails as you can, that's is the future friends not with some crappy professor who cannot even solve his own problems, just two years of self Learning, I now know about ten computer languages and advanced robotics, computer vision and a whole lots just by myself no professor intervention, and if you have the means you can also buy books from Amazon to be delivered to you, if I have been able to do it , why cant you? ,forget those universities for now acquire the knowledge and skills , get money then go get the so called degree later if you like , if you want to ask me anything my email address is ( silentgeek19@gmail.com) thanks guys. .
