If by mistake a priest does not behave well in societies and it results into tribal war like what happened in Rwanda and Burundi, it does not mean that roman Catholicism is for bad acts. Roman catholicism is for peace, unity, good service to humanity and brotherhood according Jesus Christ, our saviour. Roman catholic does not greedily chase members for regular billing for tithes like how other pentecoastal churches do share small sacks/envelopes to members for tithes. Any roman catholic church you see doing these, then it is polluted type of Catholicism.

Reading comments made so far on this subject, I wish to submit a few thoughts to alleviate to some degree the ignorance, confusion, and suspicion out there against the Masonic fraternity. The conspiracy out there is so much that it beggars believe amongst Freemasons themselves. But that is totally understandable considering the fraternities option for privacy or secrecy as some may see it. It's a fact of life that people are naturally suspicious of what is done behind closed doors.

It is critical that understands that there are two main types of Freemasons:
1. Regular and
2. Irregular

Regular Freemasonry, of which President Kuffour is a Past Worshipful Master and now honoured as a Grand Warden, is governed by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). Regular Freemasonry is a fraternal organisation that inculcates or teaches principles and values for living as decent human being, as promoted in all Scriptures: BROTHERHOOD, CHARITY, TREATING YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEING WITH DIGNITY, BEAUTY, EXCELLENCE, etc . They draw heavily on Biblical themes to highlight or teach important principles of life, so it makes it look like a religion, but it is not. Yes it is religious in its outlook, but it isn't a faith. By virtue of its principles and character as a noble order, it attracts men of a certain calibre, and aims to make them better men by the lessons it teaches them. It is not for all, and neither does it admit just any one who applies to its membership. One has to believe in God and not have any criminal convictions. I was only a human school teacher when I was admitted to membership.

As I've mentioned earlier, Freemasonry is not a faith, though for some, it teaches suffices in the act of deepening one's relationship with God. To be honest, all that Freemasons are taught is how to be a better man, no matter your religious or political affiliations or background. Principles like generosity of heart to your fellow man, fidelity to one's promises and commitments, caution in business, respecting the laws of your country, and striving to be excellent in whatever state of life you find yourself, are strongly reinforced in their teachings.

Members of REGULAR Freemasonry are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN from speculating into the the occult, contrary to what conspiracy theorist would like to suggest or have us believe.

Having gone through the ranks to the highest levels of Freemasonry, I can honestly place my hands on my heart and say that I personally have found nothing in the fraternity that is contrary to my Christian faith, but I know many will dispute this due to deeply seated suspicions. Yes, It uses allegorical or symbolic plays as its method of teaching, and to the casual observer, these plays may appear odd. However this is not so at all! They teach such beautiful lessons about life.

The main criticism against freemasonry by the Church include the following:

1. That it's teachings suggest that by doing good works or being a good person, one will gain access to heaven. This is known as PELIGIANISM.
Freemasons respond to this by saying that for salvation, they point people to their own faith. All they aim to do is highlight the practical aspects that is common to all faiths, being a good and decent human being.

2. That it promotes the view that all religions are the same. This is known as INDIFFERENTISM.
Freemasons respond by saying that they do not promote any particular religious faith. They leave that choice to the individual.

3. That Freemasonry is a mixture of different faiths. This is known as SYNCRETISM.
Freemasonry does take the wisdom of different paths, but it does not present it as a faith. An example is when one gives a proverb in our culture to illustrate a point.

4. That Freemasonry exists to undermine or erode influence of the Catholic Church.
This allegation developed in Freemasonry in Continental Europe which was quite vociferous against the abuses in the Catholic Church. English Freemasonry to which President Kuffour belongs does not have this agenda.

There are other charges against Freemasonry such as DEISM, RELATIVISM, etc... but the society states clearly that this matters of faith are beyond its scope. They leave matters of faith to the individual.

Another important distinction is Irregular Freemasonry, which is different kettle of fish and much more complicated. It is not regulated by the United Grand Lodge of England (U.G.L.E), and what goes on behind the closed doors of their lodges is left to anyone's imagination. There are fringe dimensions of any human enterprise, be it religion or politics.

Former President John Kuffour, with other prominent leaders in Ghana, is a decorated member of the REGULAR Freemasons. I was honoured to sit in lodge meetings with some of them. I only deferred obediently to leaders of my faith who understand the theological implications of Masonic principles differently. I sadly resigned my lodge membership.

Lessons I learnt from freemasonry has made me a better Christian. I value my Christian faith much much more and understand that I need to strike a good balance life at all times: work, pleasure, service to God and my fellow man must be appropriately attended to.

I believe it is only fair that this distinction is made in order not to fan the flames of conspiracy theorists, or cast a dim view on our former president for his association with this noble order.
To my understanding, he is an Anglican.

But truth be told, over the last 2000 years, the Catholic church probably did more damage than the Freemasons did. Maybe in today's world, it is the opposite, as many Freemasons have been in power and led the world to horrible wars. E.g. Bush and Blair are both Freemasons. Both made war on Iraq based on false information. This is only one example.

Bottom line, re-educate yourself. Go back to your roots. Renounce all these religions and take up your own traditional religion, if you want to have religion. It is not BAD. It is just misunderstood, and misrepresented.

But that is totally understandable, considering the fraternities option for privacy or secrecy as some may see it. It's a fact of life that people are naturally suspicious of what is done behind closed doors.

It is critical that understands that there are two main types of Freemasons:

1. Regular and 2. Irregular Regular Freemasonry, of which President Kuffour is a Past Worshipful Master and now honoured as a Grand Warden, is governed by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE).

Regular Freemasonry is a fraternal organisation that inculcates or teaches principles and values for living as decent human being, as promoted in all Scriptures: BROTHERHOOD, CHARITY, TREATING YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEING WITH DIGNITY, BEAUTY, EXCELLENCE, etc. They draw heavily on Biblical themes to highlight or teach important principles of life, so it makes it look like a religion, but it is not. Yes it is religious in its outlook, but it isn't a faith. True that by virtue of its principles and character as a noble order, it attracts men of a certain calibre, and aims to make them better men by the lessons it teaches them. It is not for all, and neither does it admit just any one who applies to its membership. One has to believe in God and not have any criminal convictions. I was only a human school teacher when I was admitted to membership.

As I've mentioned earlier, Freemasonry is not a faith, though for some, what teaches suffices in the act of deepening one's relationship with God. To be honest, all that Freemasons are taught is how to be a better man, no matter your religious or political affiliations or background. Principles like generosity of heart to your fellow man, fidelity to one's promises and commitments, caution in business, respecting the laws of your country, and striving to be excellent in whatever state of life you find yourself, are strongly reinforced in their teachings.

Members of REGULAR Freemasonry are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN from speculating into the the occult, contrary to what conspiracy theorist would like to suggest or have us believe. Having gone through the ranks to the highest levels of Freemasonry, I can honestly place my hands on my heart and say that I personally have found nothing in the fraternity that is contrary to my Christian faith, but I know many will dispute this due to deeply seated suspicions and misinformation.

Yes, It uses allegorical or symbolic plays as its method of teaching, and to the casual observer, these plays may appear odd. However this is not so at all! They teach or communicate such beautiful lessons about life.

The main criticism against freemasonry by the Church include the following:

1. That it's teachings suggest that by doing good works or being a good person, one will gain access to heaven. This is known as PELIGIANISM. Freemasons respond to this by saying that for salvation, they point people to their own faith. All they aim to do is highlight the practical aspects that is common to all faiths, being a good and decent human being.

2. That it promotes the view that all religions are the same. This is known as INDIFFERENTISM. Freemasons respond by saying that they do not promote any particular religious faith. They leave that choice to the individual.

3. That Freemasonry is a mixture of different faiths. This is known as SYNCRETISM. Freemasonry does take the wisdom of different paths, but it does not present it as a faith. An example is when one gives a proverb in our culture to illustrate a point.

4. That Freemasonry exists to undermine or erode influence of the Catholic Church. This allegation developed in Freemasonry in Continental Europe which was quite vociferous against the abuses in the Catholic Church. English Freemasonry to which President Kuffour belongs does not have this agenda.

There are indeed other charges against Freemasonry such as DEISM, RELATIVISM, etc... but the society states clearly that this matters of faith are beyond its scope. They leave matters of faith to the individual. Of course outside faith, Freemasons are also accused of criminal under dealings, and aiding and abetting corruption. I guess whilst this not a doctrine of the society, it's only fair to say that there's bound to be corruption in any human organisation.

The other distinction as mentioned above is Irregular Freemasonry, which is a different kettle of fish and much more complicated. It is not regulated by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE), and what goes on behind the closed doors of their lodges is left to anyone's imagination. Regular Freemasons are banned from its membership. There is bound to be fringe dimensions of any human enterprise, be it religion or politics. This is a natural reality.

Former President John Kuffour, with other prominent leaders in Ghana, is a decorated member of the REGULAR Freemasons. I was honoured to sit in lodge meetings with some of them for a few years. I only deferred obediently to leaders of my faith who understand the theological implications of Masonic principles differently. I sadly resigned my lodge membership. Lessons I learnt from freemasonry has made me a better Christian. I value my Christian faith much much more and understand that I need to strike a good balance in life at all times - work, pleasure, service to God and my fellow man must be appropriately attended to.

I believe it is only fair that this distinction is made in order not to fan the flames of conspiracy theorists, or cast a dim view on our former president for his association with this noble order. To my understanding, he is an Anglican.

Look at the murders; the Ya-Naa and his chiefs, Rojo, school children, the women etc. The immoral life of Kufour destroying marriages. Some of the women are single now becsuse their marriages have been sold to Kufour. When his Iraqi wife answered questions put to her by the late Komla Dumor about the hotel, we all heard her said that the owner of the hotel wept bitterly when he realised that he had to part with his project. Is that not criminal. The late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey covered Kufour putting his hands deep into our money to rebuild his house. Are these not crimes. He grabbed properties for his family and they now hold a strong off-shore accounts. Is this what your fraternity is calling a better man.
By the way how did the fraternity assess this Kufour not to have a criminal record. Some sections of Ghanaians call him a statesman but that name is a mockery.
