Galamsey is contributing just 10% of the problem. The actual problem is being caused by legalized Small Scale Mining under the watch of the Minerals Commission. Their operation is not galamsey. They are conducted "ALLUVIAL MINING" and alluvial mining is done in river beds and floodplains. At times it even involves dredging of river beds. The Minerals Commission and the EPA has failed Ghanaians. Small Scale Mining Companies are owned by MPs, Paramount Chiefs, Chiefs, DCE's MMCE's Business Men, etc. etc. Rivers and streams used by Ghana Water Company to process water are now polluted beyond measure. God Save Us. Kudos the Mines Minister.
