International organizations including bilateral and multilateral organizations are contributing significantly to the health problems in Africa. Why am I saying this?It is because they only create avenue for mass looting that allows selfish local policy makers to enrich themselves. There have been a paradigm shift in recent times from communicable diseases to non-communicable diseases with nutrition of course playing a central role in Ghana for instance.Ghana have a very good policy document developed by the MOH in the control of non-communicable diseases.Of course a lot of money has been pumped in this sector including nutrition yet still the country is faced with a double burden of rising prevalence in both under nutrition and over nutrition with related obesity and cardiovascular disorders. It is simply because most of these interventions remain theoretical documents gathering dust in the midst of corruption financial malfeasance, misappropriation.Funds and logistics provided by especially donor partners are mostly diverted with implementation and monitoring equally weak where even projects and programs begin. Most interventions are either not implemented, collapse right from inception or shortly after wards. The only way to guarantee success is to ensure transparency, accountability and value for money.Donor Partners and indeed government must ensure donor money is use for the right purpose rather than serve as an avenue for stealing by corrupt public officials. It is imperative to mention that funding for effective data collection and research should be encouraged to measure impact if there was to be any meaningful gains. The working culture today in Ghana is public health officials doing everything to undermine and destroy each other to benefit illicitly from donor funds and health commodities rather than thinking and working to solve the myriad of health problems faced by the country. If health workers can look straight into the plight of miserable soles like pathetic Acute Malnourished children and divert blended food meant for their up-keep into the black market for sale without conscience,it tells of how callously corrupt some policy makers can be.This was what triggered the canceling of blended food aid in Ghana by the USAID and the US Government some time ago.The situation is even worse now with mass looting of funds and health commodities in the health sector that has become a major hindrance to health development.
