I do not give a damn whether Nana Addo appoints his ministers from one region so far as he delivers. If he appointed an incompetent ad corrupt minister from my hometown, how good will that do me or my folks in my village? Did the numerous appointees of Mahama who hailed from the north add anything positive to the plight of their northern folks? Your guess is as good as mine. All Mhama's policies were anti-northern. Talk about the scrapping of the allowances of the training institutions and the collapse of the NHIS, most northerners suffered severe hardships under Mahama's regime.

This nonsense of where one comes from does not necessarily impact on the people. After all if the person is incompetent, his people becomes worse off, but if he's competent the benefits are felt across regions. Let's think straight.

However, it's unreasonable to expect that all tribes should have equal representation, because that will unfairly be to the advantage of tribes with lower populations. The greater the proportion of a tribe in the population of Ghana, so should that tribe's representation in ministerial appointments be. Akans greatly outnumber other ethnic groups in Ghana. Therefore it shouldn't come as a surprise that they would have the greatest number of ministerial positions. As for names, it should be understood that not everyone who bears an Akan name is an Akan. For example, some parents from other ethnic groups give their children Asante names. I personally grew up in the same village with a boy whose Northern parents gave him the name Kofi Amanfo. This is just one example. Does regional balance in ministerial appointments take into consideration such cases? Alhaj Bature will conclude that such an individual is an Akan, in order to fulfill his tribal agenda; as if he is unaware, that in the Mahama administration, Northerners were disproportionately represented, in relation to the size of their population.

Unfortunately, Politics is a game of group numbers and in our culture the winner takes all exclusively to justify "To the winner the spoils". That has to stop. Nanna, like all the rest has to reward the folks who carried him to victory by financing and or sweat equity. Hopefully, the appointees turn out to be more competent than the recent past and less corrupt. Politico-Cultural changes are slow. We should pray that competence actually reigns during Nana's tenure and that corruption is checked and reduced to the barest minimum.

This issue will also not water down the issue of one person who has defrauded the state of more than GH.C 10 million - I mean Ibrahim Mahama who took advantage of his brother's position as the Prez. to default in the payment of duties on machinery he imported into the country to carry out his business ventures. The way the previous administration of Mahama ably aided by people like Alhaji Bature (the author of this piece), split this country of ours on tribal lines will not be repeated this time around. Free SHS

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), even in opposition, is still against the implementation of the Free Senior High School Education policy of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and is reportedly planning to destroy the programme before it takes off.

So far, Mr. Mahama’s hopes of leading the NDC again for the 2020 elections, look bright, credible sources in the corridors of the party have disclosed on condition of anonymity.

They claimed that Mr. Mahama’s only fear is that if the Free Education policy, which is popular in the country, becomes successful after it has taken off in September, then his chances of becoming president again will be dashed.

“Mr. Mahama is aware that the Free Education policy will benefit every household in the country and it will affect his chances of winning the 2020 poll,” a source confided in the paper.

The source alleged that the NDC is therefore initiating several sinister plots to make sure that the policy fails, as it engages fifth columnists in the secret service as well as education authorities.

SA Mercenaries

The NDC, which days in political office were characterized by open corruption and mismanagement, is said to have invited some South Africans into Ghana.

These foreigners, who are reportedly already in the country, have been tasked to tour the country and come out with a clear-cut ‘fiendish’ policy that will help destroy the Free Education policy.

The South Africans are said to be moving round the country with sophisticated gadgets to gather key information, geared towards shooting down the Free Education policy.

BNI Operatives

According to reports, the NDC is also soliciting support from the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) operatives who are loyal to the party, especially in the three northern regions as well as the Volta Region, to tap information for the party on how to undermine the NPP flagship educational programme.

The NDC leader is reported to have engaged some BNI operatives to help destroy the Free Education policy even before the policy kick-starts. Recently, the BNI was said to have conducted opinion polls on the policy and purportedly reported that the programme is discriminatory because it will only target brilliant students.

GES Staff

The NDC’s clandestine plot against the Free Education programme is said to have been extended to some Ghana Education Service (GES) staff, believed to be known NDC supporters and sympathizers.

These GES staff, according to credible reports, have also been specifically tasked to frustrate the system so that it will not see the light of day.

Coordinating Directors

According to the sources, the opposition party is also said to have challenged some district coordinating directors in most of the assemblies in the country, who are staunch members of the party, to work clandestinely to kill the policy.

Confirmed Secret Meetings

It has been confirmed that the NDC’s teams have had a series of meetings with regional and district directors of education as well as heads of educational institutions in the three northern regions, geared at sabotaging the programme.

Private Schools

The plan does not involve only stakeholders in the public sector, but has also been extended to owners and heads of some private senior high schools (SHS).

These private SHS owners have reportedly been brainwashed by Mr. Mahama’s teams to strongly kick against the implementation of the Free Education policy because its implementation will collapse their business.

“Interestingly, education in the country is free at the primary school level, yet the various private primary schools are still in business. Therefore the claim that free education will collapse private schools at the SHS level is a hoax,” noted a renowned educationist who did not want to be mentioned.

Free Education Policy

The Free Education policy, a major social intervention programme, was one of the key campaign messages of the NPP and President Akufo-Addo (then presidential candidate) prior to the 2016 elections.

The NPP administration is set to implement the programme in September this year, as budgetary allocations have already been made for it.

Per the programme, every Ghanaian child, irrespective of his/her tribal, religious, political or social background, can access secondary education free of charge to help enhance their future.

Even before the programme is officially rolled out, the NPP administration has been receiving commendations and applause from Ghanaians.

Alhaji Bature, a trabalistic individual is in the news again, this time playing the tribal card with the hope to achieving what they could not achieve through the ballot box, but that will not survive the light of day. Alhaji Bature is hiding behind the incompetence and poor governance of the NDC government to make a case to the Ghanaian people to start hating the NPP government as tribalistic. But this will not going to stand the test of time. We are talking of competence, how the nation will be governed in such a way that the nation will be moved forward instead of backward in terms of development not the type which we say when NDC was in power. There is nothing NDC will do playing this tribal card will bring them to power anytime soon; so they should think otherwise. What Ghanaians are looking forward to is to see improvement in their daily lives, free SHS, improved NHIS, interventions that will lift their day to day living, kids getting free meals in school,etc. NDC is gone, and they are gone for a long time especially when things that have been put in place by NPP government will start to show positiveness and yielding dividends. Alhaji Bature should find another strategy and not the tribal card.

The whole truth is, Ghana is Akans and Akans are Ghana, period! They fought for independence for this country. Their forefathers starting from the Fantis from the coast to the Nzemas, to Takoradi before entering main streams of Ashantis, Easterns to Bonos. The world sees Ghana from and through Akans and specifically headed by the Ashantis and Fantis. All the best names, accolades, recognition, exposure, best brains overseas that this country has had, produced, acquire and still exhibiting to the world from education to entertainment, to football etc gives cognisance to, through and from Akans. When a certain people within a family spill their blood for the survival and sustenance of it, their blood, names, spirit and soul becomes the embodiment of that family; and same is for Ghana and for that matter Akans. But with the NPP, we all know the Akans are the majority and Asante region is their world bank. So justice had been done to the Akans. More other tribes should join NPP. Eversince the Busia-Danquah tradition came into being nothing good has ever come from their end exept tribalism and Akanism. They always make sure especially other tribes beside their tribe are sacked from their positions as government officials. Examples are what the children of Busia and co are doing in our country. Northerners, Ewes and other tribes don't matter to them but let there be fire one day Ghanaians will get to know which tribe is full of cowards and which tribes have brave men. In any democratic system,it's the majority who always win.Those who doubts this are fools or illiterates who aren't abreast with issues and facts.In Canada for example,when it comes to appointing new ministers,the biggest regions or provinces like Ontario,Quebec and British Colombia always get the most.The smaller Regions like NovaScotia,P.E.i News Brunswick don't even complain simply because they have smaller populations.All over the world,in such decisions,the population and majority are the deciding factors.it not fair for the minority to rule over majority as Mahama was doing.Mahama was the most tribalistic president ever,ignoring the majority giving key positions to the minority which is wrong and stupid.Those crying and complaining about Nana's appointment should do research into democratic principles or go to hell.What Nana is doing is in the right way.Am even of the opinion that The TWI language should be next to the English.Nana do what is good for the country and don't listen to those nincompoops.

Just looking forward for a day when the educated youth of this nation will stop attacking each other based on tribes. So sad a nation of just about 30million people can't go pass tribal these tribal lines instituted by our enemies to divide and make us weaker as a nation- and it has worked over the years. I just sometimes feel less hopeful when I see the educated youth of today, some of whom, have travelled and realized the developed world don't mention tribes but rather colors and your country of origin. We have one color and we are one nation. AS you fight against galamsey- also fight for unity and pray for a day when the tribal lines will be blurred. People will be appointed based on competence and for where they come from - so far as the person is a Ghanaian. And lastly please never insult any tribe in Ghana- if you do, it's an insult to the whole nation- we are one nation under THE Most High.

At some point there were none.Before the party was booted out of power there was only one minister from Ashanti after the region had given the NDC 600000 votes during 2012 elections.compare the votes NDC got from upper west and ask urself how come more ministers were selected from that region than ashanti region. Npp performed poorly in volta region during last election but as I speak there are two ministers and three deputies from that region.Aside the regiobal minister and his deputy. We want more development in our regions not more ministers. Your tribal politics didnt work in the last elections so revise your strategies .bature.
