The government and the politicians are running away from the problem by focusing on the victims turned actors. I mean those engage in galamsey. Galamsey is fueled by widespread which creates rural unemployment and worsens rural poverty, aside from the environmental and natural resource degradation. If the government is genuinely committed to saving the nation's environment, forests, woodlands, farmlands and other natural capital it should first abolish all surface mining, evaluate the social and environmental impacts of the activity, create rural employment and clearly demarcate areas where surface mining can be carried out in the country otherwise it will fail and the destruction of the environment and natural capital will continue.
