Tap water is safer than bottled and sachet water. How many people handle tap water before it gets into your cup. How many people handle sachet and bottled water before it finally get to you.

You made the comment to secure your job. I sometimes get untreated and dirty water in Winneba. Please, don't irritate your countrymen.

Certainly, tap water in Ghana is far better than the sachet water. REASONS:1. Tap water always contains residual chlorine which takes care of any microbial contamination before it gets to the consumer. The levels of chlorine are usually not harmful to us. 2. Harmful metallic ions are usually complexed and filtered off. 3. Contains ions of hardness like calcium which are vital for the body. 4. Treatment principles and regulations are closely monitored and well regulated in almost all the water treatment plants. On the other hand most of the sachet water products on our market are packaged under very unhygienic conditions, filters are not changed regularly, not properly disinfected, poor quality control measures and very prone to contamination along the supply chain. On any particular day, I will always opt for tap water.

I agree 100%. All those packages of water popularly called 'pure water' are all bogus and death traps. They must be disbanded from the populace ASAP ! Look! I live outside the country and anytime i return to my base from a trip to Ghana I fall very sick the first two weeks which has always been a threat to the sustainance of my job. In 2014 in the heat of the outbreak of the Ebola menace on the west coast of Africa i made a trip to Ghana, came back and faced the same challenge but had to hide it and go to work. If I had disclosed that I had fever or something..............your guess is as good as mine. I'm surprised that this very kind of 'business' has been left into the hands of even illiterates who know nothing about water treatment for human consumption. They just collect water from any sources run them through dirty filters and bag them and then they're on the market. God save Ghana indeed !! In my little knowledge about water treatment I can explain what Ph and reverse Osmosis are. Those people don't even know the components of water let alone know that every little drop of water has got myriads of micro-organisms which are hard to be killed. OMG, let me just stop wasting me and your time after all this won't get anywhere.

Indians carry along with them a cup and whenever they feel thirsty they enter a state or private establishment beg for water that they are always granted permission to fetch and drink.
The sales of plastic bags are also banned in India and when it is sold to you the cost is high.
I don't drink sachet water at all, but bottle and carry along with me tap water whenever I travel. Such a practice has keep me healthy. Whenever I go contrary to the policy of not drinking bottled and sachet water and drink them I get running stomach.
The best drinking water is tap water and India is an example of safe tap water.

This man does not know what he is talking about. He should get lost. Tap water 99% safer than packaged water? He should get lost. Let him come to Takoradi, and fetch water from the tap when it is running, leave it for 30 minutes and he will be shocked at what he will see at the bottom of the cup, glass or bucket. The water is so filthy that I and my household do not use it to cook or even do the washing up of plates cutlery. We only use it to bathe and wash our clothes and flush the toilet. Mr Martey should spare us the lies or his ignorance. What he has said is far from the reality in Takoradi.
