Why is Kwesi Pratt complaining about the National Cathedral Project. Kwesi Pratt is a stomach journalist. Has Kwesi Pratt ever condemned Ghana Government for sinking millions of tax payers’ money into the annual Hajj operation to Mecca? This same Kwesi Pratt is always quick to condemn Israel and supports the Palestinian cause but will never condemn the slavery of black Africans by Arabs in Mauritania. Why is it so? Your guess is as good as mine. Kwesi Pratt has insatiable appetite for free money and so will do everything to solicit cheap oil money from rich Muslim nations. Shame on Kwesi Pratt. If this is how journalism is meant to be then, I am sorry, journalism is a dangerous profession.

While these old people are fighting to retain their jobs, there are younger ones who don't have any employment at all. You gained experience by working, so let the young ones make the initial mistakes but will eventually gain experience. As one panelist put it so well, each one should plan for retirement. For retirement does not mean stop work.

You don't the old ones have what the young do not have? Our problems as a nation could also be because of the retiring age when people go home with a lot of experience which are often not fully tapped by their organizations when they retire. Some people are only interested in positions and not what they would do to make the work better. If the old ones could really contribute, why should age be a barrier?

Do not review any damn pension age. What is the average life expectancy in Ghana for one to work all his life and probably die in work or a few days after retirement?

I really do not understand why the panel is clamoring for the retirement age to be raised. According to a 2015 World Health Organization study, life expectancy for men in Ghana is 61 years, 63.9 years for women and the average life expectancy as a whole is an abysmal 62.4 years. This is one of the lowest in the world, ladies and gentlemen. The pension system can use some revamping until we see an increase in our life expectancy before raising it to 62 years initially and gradually increase it as we see more improvement. Most western countries are increasing the age their citizens can retire due to increase in life expectancy due to advancement in medicine, diet and other factors.

In the UK one newspaper splashed a headline, 'Work until you drop dead' It will be good to raise the retirement age to even 75 years depending upon the profession. Those who are in academics can even be considered for short renewable contracts up to 85 years. There is a whole lot of experience wasted by retiring people early. I support raising retirement age to 65 years and 70 years for academics and judges with proviso for early voluntary retirement.

The Controller and Accountant General says the Minister of Finance has suspended payment of monthly pension arrears to deserving pensioners. If this not true how soon will such arrears - some of which cover up to 4-5 years - be paid? Very soon we shall be at the finance minister's office to demand immediate payment. Ex gratia payments to DCE/MCEs, MPs are made within 3-6 MONTHS after leaving office.. So why are pensioners punished so much? Maybe something drastic has to happen to you people before you stop looking down on we pensioners. And this is not an empty threat!!!
