Dr I blame you thieves and and arm robbery health insurance . You have printed your diagnosis and tarrif for health personnel to work within that diagnosis . If you make any diagnosis outside health insurance diagnosis they will not pay . So the clinician after examination are also forced to write diagnosis within what health insurance has provided . Secondly you don't have qualify personnel vetting the claims I will challenge you to tell me how many doctors are vetting the claims in tamale CPC only polytechnic students . You have trained them on what to do . Stop disgracing medical and dental council and do your job. Pay the arrears of 13 months

Wild-wild west medicine is practiced in Ghana with no effective oversight and accountability by GMA. Most of the doctors are arrogant, ignorant and lacking basic medical skills, protocols and just occupied with making money. The training provided by the 2 medical schools is substandard. It is mayhem and the NPP government should prioritize and take control of fixing the broken medical system which is hurting Ghanaians. The Ghanaian medical system is DOA and SOS is in effect!!! Medicine is not about brick and mortar only but building and efficient and effective health care system.

That explains the bronchitis. When you have a doctor speaking like that she doesn't have much clinical experience. Check and see her CV. She has probable not had much interaction with patient care.

NHIA has spent and continue to spend so much on IT. Yet, after 13 years, your processes continue to be manual. No wonder some senior management officials there have amassed so much wealth.
You have put gadgets at NHIS accredited facilities to confirm membership but not to ensure diagnoses made match the medicines as the Director is pointing out here. People who have mismanaged NHIA over the years belong to prison. But they are still at NHIA driving their expensive cars bought with stolen money from NHIA.

She has lecture to give and hence the statements. Any practicing clinician knows that these 'mistakes' of writing fast can happen in a busy polyclinic in Ghana. It rather exposes her lack of contact with patients who can return to tell you a symptom she didn't mention. Doctor I'm also coughing. Where do put that except in the diagnosis and appear odd but she/he is treated properly.

Thank you Dr Lydia Diane Selby. It is very true Doctors are killing patients in Ghanaian hospitals. There are Doctors..... on the payroll of drug manufacturers and their representatives in Ghana, the more they write prescriptions for a particular drug the more money they make on weekly basis. Damn the side effects...and the cross- interactions, whether the diagnosis merits that medication or not they will write it for every single patient that enters the consulting room. I know what I am talking about I have seen it, they brag about how much money they make a day, by writing those bogus prescriptions and knowingly harming people for kick-backs from drug companies. The Government(BNI) must investigate those Medical Professionals Dr. Lydia Selby is talking about. I bet you, you will uncovered an iceberg of scandals these doctors are sitting on. There are Doctors in hospitals who prescribe Typhoid medications for every patient ...even if you are there just to say "good morning doctor". Whatever ailment you complain about, that particular drug must be part of your prescription and you have to spend money though you don't need them so the doctor will get paid. This is the cue it is up to the Dr a Selby to tell we Ghanaian everthing she knows.

If I understood the proceedings put up here, these institutions are NHIS accredited institutions. Therefore this also tells me the processes of NHIS accreditation of our health institutions leaves a lot to be desired. It would mean the NHIS also was not rigorous with their demands on standards for accreditation. Does that mean once a hospital says we have so and so practitioners, that's it? That's the only way I see that would make NHIA accredit such institutions. Perhaps the other route left for dealing with this would be the financial loss whipping for every irrational diagnosis and prescription. I stand to be corrected though.
