Mr Vice Chancellor you were my year mate and Legon Hall mate. You remember when we were students in the first year and even for graduate students there were specific orientation time for freshers, does this still exist, this required you to physically go and know the center, does it exist? Secondly there was a strong University Chaplaincy, it seems with all the churches around you have dropped that vital service to students, I use to enjoy the morning Legon Hall services at the Chapel. I suggest you revive these practices and also develop short simple adverts or knowledge documentaries and play continuously at the Porters Lodge showing where these services are and their values.. Hope to meet you one of these fine days..

He has no idea of the dynamics in students and school authority relationships.
To tell you the truth. Students are afraid of school leadership and they will not trust leadership with any private matter

I think our cultural practices have a role to play in the seeming reluctance of the students to avail themselves of the counselling services on offer.
In most homes in Ghana parents don't encourage their children to open up to them. The habit of confiding in even parents is rare. So going to a Counselling Centre to "divulge your secrets" to a total stranger (THE COUNSELLOR) is unthinkable!
A lot of educating will help.

You have to de-stigmatize mental illnesses on campus. Students will not use services in the face of stigma. A much broader and more sensitive and thoughtful approach is required.
