We have allowed such nonsense for so long....and we still continue to treat foreigners (especially of colour), better than our own.
They pick up what we do to ourselves and do same to us.
And here we are, standing up tall, loud and strong condemning this despicable act because it has made headlines. It happens everyday everywhere with our own. GHANAIANS ARE HYPOCRITES!!!
Why are the politicians and citizens of Ghana not up in arms against the Chinese and Indians who are raping us of OUR rich natural resources and in the process contaminating our lands and waters, to the detriment of our children and future generations?
Can a real citizen of Ghana explain this????
We are a bunch of HYPOCRITES..... ready to attack an easy target to please our egos and false sense of patriotism. We should look into ourselves and be ashamed of ourselves.
Go after our so-called leaders, chiefs and politicians colluding with the Chinese and many others stealing our nation's resources and killing us in the process.
WAKE UP GHANAIANS!!! MARAKO is just the tip of the iceberg. WE NEED TO WAKE UP FROM OUR MENTAL ENSLAVEMENT!!!! AND TACKLE THE BIGGER PICTURE OF THIEVES IN SUITS!
GOD BLESS GHANA!
AFRICAN FOREVER!

Deal ruthlessly with this disrespectful foreigner who thinks he can enjoy our welcome and insult us for our kindness. Try him, jail him and deport him back to his country. If he has already acquired Ghanaian nationality he must be stripped of it and sent back to his original country. We cannot sit down unconcerned for these Lebanese and Syrians to come to our country, rape our economy for the benefit of their countries and maltreat our citizens as well. Ghanaian domestic helpers exported to Lebanon, Syria and other Arab countries are treated like slaves and even killed by their employers, and Jihad Chaaban and his like have introduced the inhuman treatment into our own country. Get rid of this idiot from our shores before Ghanaians rise up against all Arabs resident in our country.

Please let everyone including our politicians stay out of this. This is a matter for the courts to decide. At the end of the day we expect a court trial and NOT a public debate. Our politicians are too quick to interfere with the judicial process. After all our politicians have all this while been aware of abuses in the past. I want justice, but once we put structures in place, we must allow them to work. Separation of powers will allow good and great judicial process. The executive branch of government must stay in it's "lane" and allow the judiciary to stay in it's "lane".
Will somebody tell me the difference between our politicians who have milked our economy dry leaving our nationals to die in hospitals that lack basic equipment, and this particular abuse case. Are both situations not cases of abuse?
I sincerely want justice for this lady but everyone must stay out of it unless the politicians want to try this case themselves. If so take it out of the court, Period!

The man's first name tells it all. He is an ISIS. We have similar ISIS characters all over Ghana. They treat fellow Ghanaians as animals. I wish the Ghanaian media will interview some Ghanaian workers working at factories at the Kaneshie Industrial Areas being managed by Lebanese and Syrians. They will be shocked to hear some horrible stories. I wish the ministry of gender affairs will encourage Ghanaians being treated inhumanly by these beasts in human flesh to report such incidents by means of writes ups for prompt action. Just a fortnight ago a beautiful Ghanaian lady who was a nanny in Saudy Arabia was brutally beheaded by her Master in the presence of Saudy Arabian Police because a child under her care accidently fell and died. These people are just beasts in human flesh.

She might oneday find herself in a strange land and the karmic law will playout.

I think that the judge refused him bail because of public outcry, but not on any sound judicial basis. This is wrong and we must not allow our sentiments to override common sense and justice. It appears the family of the victim are enjoying the limelight and freebies they are getting from some public figures, most of whom are hypocrites who only seek to gain publicity from this unfortunate incident. Ghanaians must not let this issue blind our sense of equity and forgiveness. If Jihad Shaaban was unsympathetic and cruel, we must not be like him, but exhibit sympathy and forgiveness since the man has openly shown remorse. Let us maintain our pride as a compassionately dignified people with a sense of forgiveness, afterall, the man came out openly and accepted his fault, and appologised. Remember that an unforgiving society will equally not deserve the forgiveness of their Lord when they most need it. God bless our homeland Ghana.

Stereotyping is often unfair but I can't help wondering why Lebanese Business folks in Ghana seem to be the immigrant Business owners with the most horrible record of how they treat their native Ghanaian employees?
At least, this incident of forcing an employee's face into a bowl of hot chili Pepper is reminiscent of a similar inhumane brutal incident in Kumasi, a few decades ago, when a Lebanese Businessman forced his Ghanaian Maid to sleep have sex with his dog.
The incident, I believe, triggered enormous outrage among Ghanaians for the deportation of the Businessman after sending him to jail.
So, would it be wrong to ask if there is that general disrespect among Lebanese for Ghanaians, or these incidents are only isolated repeated occurrences? It is very sad that when we opened our doors to many of these Lebanese refugees who had to escape their War-torn ravages in their Country, this is the kind of treatment they end up meting out to us.
Hopefully, the majority of Lebanese in Ghana are decent and appreciative of our Nation's welcoming of them to live and work among us. I am hesitant to make a blanket condemnation of all Lebanese Business folks in Ghana because I know of one who was married to my step-mother's sister and was very honorable and decent. In fact, I speak so of Zani who had a big Store in Techiman, B/A since the 60s.
Zani was highly regarded by the people of Techiman because of his many contributions to the Town and how he humbly and warmly interacted with the native folks. I wish I could learn about many more like him in Ghana, and not about such criminal-minded as those involved in this case.
Long Live Ghana!!!
