No coup maker deserves to be honoured anyways by any country. Coup is a treasonable crime, and therefore not encouraged. Kotoka was no hero, neither was Afrifa, Rawlings, or Kutu Akyampong, certainly not to any patriotic Ghanaian.

Who did Kwame Nkrumah dictate to? Governor Guggisburg or Charles Arden Clark? What Nkrumah did for Ghana, not even the British colonial govt was able to do a quarter of it throughout its 300 years of colonizing us. Even going forward, no post-independent govt in Ghana came closer to Nkrumah's achievements.

What did you recall in history about democracy and dictatorial regimes? Would you for example, call Britain and the US democratic or dictotarial when some of their citizens were not allowed to exercise universal suffrage? Or was The US deemed dictortarial when slavery was a "legitimate" business? Answer these questions truthfully, then come back and let's define "dictatorship" or "democracy" via historical perspective.

My friend cut out the insults and present logic based arguments in relations to history and international politics. Nobody owns insults, and that is why it's so cheap!!

The Airport in his name is deserving. If you are going to change the name of the Airport to Nkrumah, then change everything named after Nkrumah to the people he chased, jailed and killed during his dictatorial/ruthless regime.

I rejoiced when Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown. When I grew up and became more informed as opposed to being better informed, I changed my mind. Kwame Nkrumah should be recognized for the monumental and indeed unprecedented transformation he spearheaded in Ghana and Africa. He has his place in history and others also have their place on that stage. Let's remember that the world is a stage and we shall all leave it when we finish playing our role as ordained by destiny. Today we torn between" Flagstaff and Jubilee House" a political naivety if you ask me. The Kotoka coup however undesirable was popular. We could have learned our lessons instead of using it as an scapegoat for our failure in governance.

Price control,lining up for essentials and all Ghana's economic woes started during Nkrumah's time.Key people in his Govt who dared to question his decision were either imprisoned were forced to go on exile.Arko Adjei,Gbedema are two prominent examples.It took the bravely of Kotoka and Afrifa to overthrow the selfish leadership of Nkrumah.And no one can deny the fact that Kotoka's coup was the most popular.Nkrumah has enough edifies named after him!

The single action that stopped Ghana's progress was the 1966 coup. And if people can defend/support the perpetrator of that coup, it beggars belief and can only happen in black Africa.

Thus, Kotoka being Public Enemy No.1 Rawlings must be Public Enemy No.2.

The behavior of Dictator Nkrumah was exactly the same as what Dictator Yahaya Jammeh, even Nkrumah case was worse because he came to power through ballot box but later turn to a dictator and a monster who terrorized his critics and thrown them to jail without trial.
We have to stop being hypocrites and speak the truth, the vision of Nkrumah was every black persons dream but becoming a dictator and silencing the masses is what got him overthrew.

Why do you think people like Indians and Lebanese are treating black workers as slaves ? When Kotoka condoned and connived with CIA to eliminate Africa's only political prophet, it never occurred to him that his cruel action was going to affect the whole African continent. Jesus Christ of Nazareth is a foreigner from Israel but is well respected and loved because they say he was the son of God. Well, let us assume it is true but what about the rest of us ? Are we the sons and daughters of lucifer ? I would have answered " No " but because of Kotoka , I will say " Yes ". We are the descendants of lucifer. When you kill a prophet sent by God to redeem millions of troubled souls, you have actually done the work of lucifer and that is what Kotoka did to we Africans. Imagine a small country like Ghana, attaining independence ahead of most big countries in Africa who looked up to Nkrumah to show them the way to freedom. Great freedom fighters like Nelson Mandela, Mugabe, Kenneth Kaunda, Julius Nyerere, Tafawa Balewa and many more were all schooled by our own Kwame Nkrumah to fight against imperialism. Mahatma Gandhi of India once questioned black africans for fighting on behalf of the colonial masters instead of fighting for their own freedom. Patrice Lumumba of Congo was hacked to death by the Belgians because of his Nkrumahist ideology which is based on " Emancipation of the black race from tyrannical regimes of the colonialists ". The vision of Nkrumah for the continent of Africa as a whole was going to cripple the economy of the western world as they depend on raw materials from Africa for their industries. Kwame's vision was to process every single raw material on our own continent and rather export our finished products to other parts of the world to make Africa, the most buoyant economy in the world. Kwame who never rested on his laurels started his industrialisation programme which brought about the birth of Tema, the harbour city of ghana. Mind you, he purposely built Tema for industries in order to create jobs for all. What even convulsed the western world with anger was his quest for atomic energy programme which was to add ghana''s name on the world's nuclear power map as Pakistan and India. In fact his vision was far bigger than that of China, Korea and the rest of the Asian countries including Japan. Some of his ideology was the formation of the United States of Africa with Swahili as the lingua franca for all africans. With such a blessed political prophet given to Africa by God, the evil man called " Kotoka caused mayhem to bring the whole of Africa to standstill politically, economically, mentally, psychologically and socially. Why therefore name our only international airport after Africa's number one enemy. Thank God, Arthur and Yeboah castrated him to become a bullock in its watery grave. I am a die hard Nkrumahist and I totally support Samia's call to rename our international airport after " Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah ", the black Jesus of Africa.

President Akufo Addo is correct. The independence struggle was not won by Nkrumah but rather a host of talented Ghanaians with some whose names have been lost in the national discourse. Ghana would have ended up a failed statelike Syria, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Libya, etc. had that awful man stayed in power. Good riddance. Samia should be priviledged to live in a country where people can air their views without fear of being detained.

Like it or not that is an important part of Ghana's history and, anyway, enough things have been named after Nkrumah and hardly any other of Ghana's historical figures. Why then not revert to the previous name of Accra International Airport as it was under Nkrumah?
