The man Atta Mess was very vindictive Nkrumaist who missed History classes when he went to school. In his brainwashed head Ghana began with Nkrumah and ended with Nkrumah. He worshipped Kwame Nkrumah irrationally and he loathed all those who did not share his consummate adulation of Nkrumah.

Else how could he, with all that facts available to our collective history, with regards to our nascent march towards independence assign all the credits and platitudes on the head of one man only. In a pluralistic and multiparty democracy, when you do that you rather sow animosity and not unity amongst the people. Atta Mess was too partisan to be a head of state. And wicked too. Calling himself Asodwehene was the biggest faux pas of the decades since independence. He was not, he was not a unifier but a divider of the people. He was true and through Nkrumah's lackey.

Hatred in his heart was the reason he wouldn't go and stay at the Jubilee House but have temerity to rename it a Flagstaff House when he had pooh pooh on its construction. Partisan man like that does not to be president. And to add insult to injury, he went to name the first FPSO Ship ordered by Kufour and name it after Osagyefuo.

Yes I agree that we should open it up and ask the people to submit a name for the place. Secondly the founder's day should become Founders Day to pay respect to all the leaders who contributed in diverse ways to make our independence possible.

In the USA, the third Monday of February is celebrated as Presidents' Day. It commemorates the birthday of George Washington, their first President. The holiday used to be called George Washington Day, but a national consensus was forged in the second half of the 20th century to use the day to honour ALL past presidents. Botswana also celebrates Presidents' Day. Ghana can learn from these examples.

As for the seat of Government, my vote is for Jubilee House. Why hark back to a colonial relic when we can celebrate a major milestone in our post-independence history?

The fact is,UGCC collapsed when Nkrumah parted ways to formed the Convention Peoples Party(CPP) on the reasons of
Stagnant Strategies,etc by the UGCC to attained the ultimate aim of Self Govt,as it was then called,in the quickest possible period, in Nkrumah's personal opinion.So Danquah,etc, formed the United Party(UP).Whilst Danquah,etc relied on obsolete tatics of "Self Govt, Step by Step",the dynamic general Secretary in the person of Kwame Nkrumah advocated for a more pragmatic radical approach of "Sefl Govt Now! with Positive Actions". Later, the Colonial admin held two referendum at different time to test the willingness of the people of Gold Coast to "Self Govt ".In both cases, Kwame Nkrumah won a landslide victory over Danquah.Nkrumah (CPP),
was in Jail over Civil disobedience (positive action) when he won the 2nd
referendum.Therefore, the Colonial admin ordered Nkrumah released from Custody with an invitation to the Seat of Govt,Osu Castle. Nkrumah was directed by the head of Mission (Governor) on the instructions of the British govt to Form his Govt. Therefore, Osagyefo Dr Prof Kwame Nkrumah stands out of the "Big Six", or all those in whose struggle and diverse contributions helped attained Independent in the year 1957, including the sponsors, notably. Paa Grant.Afterall,Politics started from the Central Region by a Merchant in Saltpond, name mentioned above (Paa Grant )and other Fanti Scholars (educated persons), as Aborigine Protection Society.Other Societies were formed, mostly in the Central Region ,etc,before they were emerged as UGCC. The question is why is it not necessary to go back to the Aborigine Protection Society era to honour the forefathers of politics?.The answer to my own question is that, those could not attained the independent, their efforts is appreciated, though! Therefore, what is Akufo Addo talking about!.Danquah was and is not the person who finally won the independence to the people of Gold Coast. Just as only the first person in a race awarded the Gold Medal.Why is the "Maa te Me ho" not satisfied with this natural Justice and itching to rewrite history. Nkrumah made the announcement to renamed the Gold Coast, Ghana, at the dawn of March 6, 1957;even if it was someone' s idea!.(I stand corrected).Give us a break,pls!.

I do not think the name should be changed. Why do we Africans do not want to credit the first government that created the names of places that we are all enjoying in the country right now? The name flagstaff house was in existence before some of the people advocating for the name change were even born. The White House in Washington as been there for over 200 years and no other president has even thought of changing the name. Why Ghana? The next government that comes to power will decide to change the name again. Are we serious in this country?
Let's have a refrerandum on this subject and have the masses vote on it and that becomes the final name for the seat of government not the soul responsibly of any government or president. Let's practice democracy not democrazy.
