The idea that Akans come from Gana predates J.B Danquah. Danquah was merely putting oral history into writing and finding links between the various oral records. It is really funny to note that Danquah was always claiming staff for himself...One of which is the father of Ghanaian Politics..But everybody knew even including the British that rightfully it is Paa Grant (an Nzemaa) who spearheaded the political movement of the Gold Coast...

He has brought this upon himself. The Nzema chiefs and people are aggrieved because they perceive that Dr Sipa Yankey, an Nzema, was removed as CEO of GNGC to make way for Dr Ben Asante.

The thinking is that a local person would have a vested interest in the GNGC, and work to ensure its success and benefit to the local community as Dr Yankey did.

While the government set up lands commission it stated they had no authority over any area falling under the jurisdiction of Asanteman. Well for your information the issue of Ayigya and Asuoyeboa was not because an Odikro opposed but rather the argument by the people spearheaded by the Odikro was right which the government understood.

You just can't come and do some small thing at an area for a political gain when the money was actually generated by the people through revenue mobilisation. Don't forget, the roads will nonetheless be constructed despite the opposition.. This nonsense has happened in the western region before and the people has ever regretted it.

Stop day dreaming, the lands commission supervises over lands government owned . In Ghana government does not dictate land ownership it's the chiefs (even Nkrumah who almost succeeded shot-lived his government) . So what point are you trying to prove ? The Nzemas dictate their own land etc etc so does the Ashantis vis vesa..

It is also true that in recent times, the name is given to some people as a family root name as well as ethnic affiliation.

So you are right!

But don't forget that, the chiefs reason for rejecting (in their dreams) of Dr. Asante was not because he was Ashanti (not at all). But by "proximity of cooperation" as they might have perhaps had dealings with him (Dr. Asante) before. And to the Nzema chiefs best understanding would not augur well if he's made the substantive CEO.

People should stop insulting the chiefs for expressing their opinion; everyone would have done that, considering the fact that (they feel) they have capable men like Prof. Kaku Nokoe..

No doubt Professor Nokoe is a very good Statistician, but his CV does not match that of Dr Asante, more so he is rolling stone, hops from job to job from Ethiopia to UDS. My Chiefs should stop that.

Let it be known that contrary to the chiefs claims, Sagari Nokoe is an inward self centred with no record of management success. He is well known to have run down UDS to nothing. He filled his pockets and watched on as the University hotel was grabbed. This man hijacked the position of acting vice chancellor and shamelessly supervised over the shredding of applications of qualified professors. I am sure he is as usual laying back and steering these innocent chiefs to make these unfortunate demands. His selfish interests will let him do anything.
