Ghanaian-Born Dutch former player, George Boateng has asked Ghana Football Association (GFA) to set a criteria for the appointment of a new head coach for the Black stars after the announcement of the exit of Mr. Avram Grant.

According to the former Middlesborough captain, it is very prudent for Ghana, to appoint former Ghanaian players as technical men of the Blackstars since they already have a heart for the country.

"I think the GFA must be specific with the kind of criteria they use in selecting coaches for the Black Stars, whether the person should be a former player, a local tactician or a foreign coach. Netherlands, for instance, have made it clear that they only appoint Dutch coaches, likewise Germany and Spain, no foreigner will be given the nod to coach the national team, because they believe it’s a pride for the country.

"Ghana is blessed with so many retired players who understand the game and were quality on the field of play, why can’t we use them? Player like Augustine Arhinful can be appointed as the team manager. We have Stephen Appiah, Samuel Osei Kuffour and many others who have played top-level football, and they have seen it all in big tournaments, GFA must set criteria to appoint a replacement for Avram Grant," Boateng said.

Boateng 42, reckons he is very much ready to help the Black Stars as a head coach if he is given the nod by the Ghana football association.

"I have something different to bring on board if am given the nod to help the Stars, I have the experience, I have been an assistant coach for Newcastle United, I have been with Feyenoord, Derby County and I was the first black man to manage a team in the Malaysia Super League.

"It’s very obvious I also have the experience as a player, having played for the Netherland National team and many other clubs in Europe, I have played in the Uefa champions league, Europa cup final and the FA Cup final so I am very much ready to help if only the GFA want that." said George Boateng.
