Democracy is about individuals enjoying all the fundamental Human rights in a nation and not just mere words and an elections every four years.

We should make the Otumfuo our head of State because he is wise and takes care of all Ghanaians living in Kumasi. Democracy divides us as a people and worse things will happen as we antagonize each other further.
Nana and NPP will divide Ghana further taking the baton from John Mahama who did his part of tribal politics!

We can't ignore innocent victims in the snare of political machinations. I believe the NDC wants NPP to do their worse but enough is enough. We have made a big mistake for letting the party with zero plans in gov't.

The agitation and confrontation obviously have its root to wanton corruption and exploitation of the NHIS by criminal elements with service providers and NHIA colluding to milk the state. The youth are agitating because it is common knowledge in Tamale how criminal elements have high jacked the scheme and milked the state with millions of cedis siphoned with knowledge of health authorities who have turned a blind eye being beneficiaries of an organized criminal syndicate ruthlessly exploiting the scheme. An important social intervention like the NHIS have suffered persistent rape unsurprisingly leading to its near collapse mainly as a result of being used as a conduit for looting state coffers. It is particularly a pathetic sight especially in a deprived area like the northern region where its basic essence of providing health service for the poor and destitute has become secondary in the interest of politics and personal aggrandizement. In deed, this is not the first time the NHIA have been bedeviled with problems with issues of corruption in question.Needless to say the youth's action may have some political expediency but there is no doubt that the wanton corruption in the NHIA in the Tamale metropolis have far more serious ramifications and social consequences far beyond partisan ties. The NHIA in the metropolis need serious investigation and inventory to deal with the problems of service induced moral hazards, client induced moral hazards, flagrant abuse and exploitation of the scheme. The youth have sighted corruption and exploitation of the scheme as reasons for their actions. What is the police going to do about myriad of problems such as over costing and over claims for services not provided, claims for phanton non-existent services and other fraudulent activities that allow allow payment of claims without provision of services? What will the police do with facilities not duely registered with NHIA or does not meet the criteria for enrollment as service providers but are earning fraudulent insurance claims in collision and connivance with NHIA?This is not the first time the NHIA in the Tamale metropolis have come under the limelight for corruption. It has happened many a time with citizens in the metropolis heading to court to seek legal redress. The police should tackle the primary problem of corruption and misappropriation of public funds at tamale NHIA holistically without any political consideration. The should lunch serious investigations into the activities of NHIA to safe health services and safe an ailing and dying populace with the NHIA playing a major role because of its fraudulent and dubious activities.
