I wonder why a country like Ghana with a record of having gained her independence barely 60 years ago still pay sitting allowances and other renumerations to her Parliamentarians in this 21st century in cash. Are we so primitive that our lawmaking-institution cannot remunerate her Parliamentarians through Bank Transfers? If payments were made through the bank, those claiming that the alleged money handed over to them was believed, at the first instance, to be sitting allowance couldn’t have never told that incredible story. I cannot imagine that the Parliamentarians receive their monthly Salary in cash!! If this is the case then Ghana has a long way to go, after 60 years of independence!

And reminds Ghanaians about how the NPP's Kufuor, with Nana Addo in cabinet got rid of the Osagyefo barge and made TB Hammond carry $3.1 million to Ghana by plane to the presidential office as proceeds from the sale of the power barge.
In short how can Ghana trust the next energy minister.
Although the sequence of events are not well captured in the report, the president will need to act in good faith and swiftly to save the party and it's credentials.

One may ask, has the NPP party looked within its ranks and file those who maybe against Agarko's approval to have engineered such a move ? Has he any enemies within the party ? I am of the opinion that he may be innocent but just a fall guy in a game of chess within his own party, check mated by some members of his party who may out him out of the Energy Ministry. I am further in no doubt that Muntaka did give out the bribe money and must come out clean who gave him the money, possibly not the Chairman but who did and mentioned it was from the Chairman ? So far as I am concerned, Muntaka has denied the issue of receiving any monies from the Chairman and giving out any to the Minority MPs. BUT and. Big BUT, he has not denied a caucus meeting in his office headed by the Minority Leader in Parliament Sir Haruna where all members decided to return their envelopes back to him to send it back to where he claims it came from. Smells fishy, one against how many minority MPs who returned the money, his word against all of theirs. INTERESTING.
