The National and Regional Houses of Chiefs must promptly prescribe registration of all members of all Royal Gates eligible to inherit Stools in every Town and Village.
The said Register must reflect records in the Birth and Death Registry. And such a registry must be digitized and gazetted. Even if we had had a reliably recorded family trees in retrievable archives, we would not have much of that problem. The lineage would be clearly in records that could be referred to prove the eligibility of anyone claiming to be part of the Royal families, and whether it is the turn of any particular Gate to choose one of its members to fill a vacant stool.
It is because of the absence of any permanent retrievable ancestral registers that unscrupulous ineligible folks come from nowhere to claim a stool. We have depended upon the word of mouth to pass down the historical roots of our families. In the olden days, the widespread belief in divine punishment or some spiritual repercussion for lying about one's eligibility as a royal deterred many if not all from attempting to cheat the system to claim a stool. Today, hardly any rich person cares about those spiritual retribution, and some of the worst characters have the audacity to make those claims.
If we were to begin to digitally record our lineages, the ancestral register must include adequate ancestral historical narative that authenticates any eligible Gate and its members.
In some towns, as many as 3 or more families could form the royal Gates. In some of these multiple gates cases, a family might not have been initially part of the royal lineage but due to some emergency exigency one of its members might have been appointed by the ruling class or families to temporarily sit on the stool for a period until the next of kin is old and groomed enough to retake the stool. This ad hoc arrangement would then later embolden the surrogate family to claim royalty or eligibility in subsequent years to sit on the stool and become de facto royalty.
It just happens that some such situations demanded the choosing of a descendant of a slave or court servant to deputize as a Chief. And today, some of the descendants of such deputies have laid claims of eligibility as royals to the various affected stools.
The advent of civil rights, following abolishment of slavery, and access to higher Education enabled many of us outside the Royal Families to acquire Education and/or become wealthy or popular in our hometowns. It is some of these initial non-royals who are now wealthy that are, every so often, causing many of the chieftancy disputes currently going around in the Nation.
So, if there were any registration of royal gates for every town, we wouldn't be embroiled in such disputes as much.
