May be not the Ga of today but the yester year GAs were very cultured and incredibly charitable.I stayed in Accra for several years before I left Ghana in 1980.Back then you could trust the word of a Ga,and they were never this money conscious.My landlord refused to charge me after I lost my employment.He actually asked his daughter to make sure I had something to eat every evening for months.I fell in love with his daughter while trying to teach her speak Twi and she teaching me Ga.Later I managed to get into America through my late father's lodge friend whose son met an unfortunate accident in Ghana.And it took me almost five years to make it back to Ghana but guess who was still waiting for me? Yes,I am blessed to be married that beautiful daughter of my former landlord.Unfortunately though that noble man had passed about two years before my return.So it gives me physical pain whenever I see or hear about how horrible GAs are behaving today.I have lived with them, ate with them and married one of their most precious jewels and I can assure you that what you see of them today is definitely a corrupted version of what I experienced.

It is not wrong to admire the culture of another tribe but we should all first and foremost cherish being a Ghanaian. According to history, Ashanti rose to an empire comprising of parts of Burkina Faso, Cote D'lvoire, Togo and even Benin before the empire shrank to the present day Ashanti Kingdom. Ahanti's were the only tribe to challenge the British invaders, defeated them on two occasions before they were defeated. The ability to preserve most of their culture and most importantly the golden stool from being captured makes them interesting people. Well in short the Ashanti's have a rich history.

Since this Asantehene came he's been making this utterances of Asante kingdom but this does not exist, it is very wrong and he knows it. Once we had the republic in 1960 all the kingdoms went with it. He's a chief of the Asante's ONLY. Now he's been able to intimidate the highest office of the land, where he's copied some letters. He's their subordinate and should be treated as such. If anything at all the council of chiefs are relevant but not to single him out as if he's above all of them. Ghana is not like the U.K. where the Queen is the head of state. The UK is not republic that's why they don't have a president, the Queen in other words is their president, but we are. The Asantehene is not even a king, he's only a chief over the Asante's and nothing more. He's playing this game tactics for recognition and money chopping for now. Too bad!!! We should be very careful for the future otherwise some misunderstandings will erupt concerning as who rules this nation. The Asantehene is brewing this idea slowly & carefully. Watch it!!!

Yes, you are right. After 1960 we have no kingdoms because we became a Republic. It is only the Ashantis who are propagating the Kingdom for themselves but there is no Act on that. They have a Paramount Chief who supercedes all the chiefs in Ashanti. All other tribes were powerful but their past was not documented, that is why they are not known. People from the three Northern Regions while working g on the cocoa farms impregnated their daughters and that is why you see thick tall Ashantis like J. A. Kufuor but the typical Ashantis and Akyems are short, black, hairy and ugly just His Excellency NADAA with all apologies. Ghana is a unitary state and no tribe should be demeaned like the Ashantis are doing. They are noted for sikanet ye mogya and abrantie and whatever they will do even if they can kill to get money they will do. For peace to continue to prevail in this country let us learn to know that every human has blood and all the features. Let us leave out insults and demeanor and peace will reign forever.
