Someone like Mahama should be able to build himself a house of any kind (I mean any luxurious house) even if he had never been a president in his life. Mahama has been in politics and in government since God knows when, and if he cannot afford a decent home for himself and his family, then he is disgrace to his family and whoever holds him dear. This is just part of the greed on the part of these politicians. K4 tried to do the same, didn't he, when he tried to seize the state cars he was using when he was leaving office? Greedy bastard politicians! All of them are thieves!

Our presidents do not work for free and have tax exemption status so, what is the sense in providing them with house , car and a whole lot of freebies after their term ends?

JJ intentionally burnt his house and forced the nation to provide him with a brand new one and his supporters love that stupid gesture. JJ thinks Ghana owes him something that cannot be found on this planet. Some even say that he brought democracy to Ghana forgotten that Nkrumah, Busia, Limann etc were all elected by Ghanaian voters.

We the people have to take a strong and an uncompromising stand against providing houses for our president after their term ends. That is not done in the richest nations on earth. Go to the US and ask if Obama was given a common bicycle.

Our leaders are greedy, insensitive, thieves etc because with all the freebies they get, they still demand more from Mother Ghana. Why and why?

We should hold a referendum and vote on free accommodation, cars, ex-gratia or anything free for our leaders including MPs. Some of us are sick and tired of such nonsense being "nursed" as if it is going to grow and become something fruitful.

My father taught over 50 years of his life, both in the public schools system and private schools system. He retired from teaching when he was in his 70s. He was able to built his own modest house. He never had any benefits like what has been given to the presidents and the so-called parliamentarians. But he served his country and humanity with dignity. This is what service is all about. You don't become a president for 4 or 8 years, with all the benefits when you are in office, and get 2 bungalows, one for office and one for residence, in addition to other great benefits and you call it service.

Any constitution that perpetuates such acts must be amended. We now have the chance to ensure that persons who cannot point to own self-acquired homes do not use the presidency as the means to property acquisition as in the case of J J. Where is the much talked about integrity? Please no sleep walking into approved legal bribery.
