Mahama had no shame in participating in state property grabbing. He and Mills stood on rooftops lambasting Kuffour for requesting an office building. Today, St mahama has just turned into snake, shedding the old skin and assuming a more corrupt one. Mahama now homeless.

Anyway, better late than never. You've seen the light now.

Raiding of State assets for personal wealth is still the primary goal of Ghanaian Politicians.
We should not trust these Politicians whose previous performances in various positions show they cherish enriching themselves more than serving the best interest of the Nation. They have never really cared about the poor folks. Many of them had the opportunities to help the poor in their neck of the woods but never did.
So, they are not in Politics to serve anyone but themselves. That is a big shame!
But Ghanaians must not allow these crooks to keep taking turns to loot our national assets anymore. And I am afraid any such spate of corruption as we have witnessed in recent past may push the Public's patience beyond the brink.
Long Live Ghana!!!

[Without making a direct reference to the ex-president’s bungalow saga, Mr Baffour challenged Ghanaians to think about the legacy for the younger generation rather than fighting to own state property.
“Ghanaians, let's please reflect on what inheritance we want to bequeath to our children, morally, ethically, physically, and spiritually. I'm not being judgemental, but I think so far, we are letting the generations to come down badly,” he pointed out.]
The above is so so typical of the total lack of principle that characterizes the ghanaian middle class.
Why does he not want to be judgmental? I thought he claims to know right from wrong
Why does he not want to refer directly to the bungalow saga? What is more glaring and useful than referring to concrete examples for the guidance of others.
In short, his FB post is of limited value; it's timing tells us more about the strength of his convictions than the sentiments expressed.
We are not impressed.

The state should and would give the former president accommodation but he should not to ask to keep an official bungalow build for the vice president. Even if there other bungalows that the current vice president can use the principle is wrong

It is a fantastic loss of common decency and principles even when there are laws that have been crafted to keep such conduct in check.
We are not safe at all in the midst of such depravity.

My "aborofo" friends are shocked when I tell them that in Ghana the state provides this and that for ex-Presidents and vice-Presidents as part of their parting package. Really? "So, for example, Carter, the two Bushes, Clinton, and all the past presidents and vice-presidents got those packages", they ask me. "So then, Obama will get that too?" The answer is NO. They look for their own accommodation like all other citizens; the state only supports them as required by law. How can Ghana go borrowing when our lenders don't even do what we do as parting gifts for heads of state? Are we cursed as a Third world country?

The grabbing of property by retired politicians has the force of law behind it. If I a not mistaken, the constitution requires the government to re-settle former presidents with a house and office space in addition to ex-gratia payments. Mahama isn't the first person nor will he be the last to hold on to the official resident upon retirement. The public's outcry on Mahama's attempt to hold on to his official residence has turned out to be a partisan issue. If Ghanaians find this practice abhorrent, then they should contact their MPs and demand that the law be changed.

You have spoken the truth. I remember visits with you at the KNUST VC residence when your father was the VC.
The current saga has its genesis with the civil servants who started selling Kanda Estate houses to themselves and also buying their last official vehicles as they retired. As you may recall, this led to some of the directors ordering mercedes Benzes a couple of years to retirement so they can go home with them. This thievery has persisted for too long and it is good you are drawing attention to it. Another cancer in the system is this you scratch my back I scratch yours that exists between the legislature and the executive.
There is the need for an independent body to sort these out. As a priority for Akufo Addo,, he must resolve this in his first year and the recommendations submitted to a referendum during at the same time as the elections of the assemblies' members 2 years from now.
