Mr Deputy Minority Leader you seem to be tone deaf. You want the new government to Tax , Tax, Borrow and Borrow to spend? That fical policy did not work and created a huge debt. If you have been listening to the NPP Economic management team, they want to go the in opposite direction of cutting taxes to stimulate economic activity and thereby collect more taxes. Your are a smart Accountant, go brush up on fiscal, monetary and financial policy mix statategies other countries have used to spur economic growth. Fiscal policies alone does not work. A change in mindset is required to innovate our economic management strategies. The NDC belived Government should be the engine of economic activity? Well I have news for you: Governments do not create wealth, individuals do! Work with the new majority to support the new government's startegy of creating an evironment which will spur individual entreprenuership to create wealth and jobs for Ghanaians. A government that makes its citizens dependent on it and program their lives take their self worth which leads to economic stagnation and decline.
So focus less on tax collection and more on a mix of economic policies that spur economic growth.

What needs to be done is to start radically trimming government's operating costs. Start by cutting the bloated head count, trimming off all that padding (corruption) in the contracts and government services. Start to think and implement VALUE FOR MONEY contracts and services, then focus on productivity and improvement of service delivery.
Why don't these NDC guys ever learn. Repeating the same old mistakes is never going to solve Ghana's fiscal problems MR. Avedzi, I thought you would know better, but I suppose I am wrong to believe you were intelligent and knowledge about Government operations and finances.

You should have advised the corrupt John Mahama to do the same instead of contracting - and sharing - the massive foreign loans that put our national debt at GHC120 billion (from GHC9.5 in 2009). All of a sudden you know what should have been done. Get lost and allow the NPP to handle the finance of the country on the strategies on which they campaigned and on which Ghanaians voted them into power.
