Your grandmother might have had a good IQ to even contemplate building two houses but that is not the kind of IQ the African needs. It is too simple, like being in a 60 years old in class one.

By allowing the major local languages thru interpreters as allowed in the UN and South African parliament, we gonna create jobs for our people who are graduating from Ghana School Of Languages. But the very people -MPs - who cry for job creations only understand job creation by "INVESTORS" who are mainly in their primitive minds Europeans.
Our languages are beautifully structured by our forefathers in a way that those who know how to speak it create peace with it. The lack of eloquence in english language in Ghana is the reasons why so many insults are in our air waves as these english loving Ghanaians do not have all the tools to communicate to themselves. The tools are simply not there therefore we and the politicians are talking to nobody. SO SAD!!!

Akua Donkor has a great wisdom ( you can not learn that in any school) and to impact that to you in a language she could hardly speak will rob you of understanding her, and that'a exactly most of your english wannabe politicians are doing and going nowhere with their constituents as 99% of their constituents do not and can not comprehend their poorly phrased and bad english they pride themselves of speaking.

Modern governance is more than a mastery of a language. It demands deployment of a vast array of knowledge from different fields which is acquired from formal education and practical experience. Akua Donkor simply doesn't have that knowledge and is not even fit to be MP, talk less of becoming President. I found out a bit about her when recently in Ghana and so knew that she was an Assembly member. She should have heeded advice to remain thus instead of adding to the clownish and mediocre nature of politics in Ghana. I actually planned to write an article on her and the issue of her lack of English after listening to a most pathetic FM host and callers on an FM station in Ghana.
The acquisition of English is one of the attributes of being educated in Ghana. Of course, we all went to school with classmates who were very good in other subjects, such as Maths, Physics, etc., but struggled with English, getting poor grades in it while getting 1 in Maths. Some even failed it, hampering their entering Sixth Form. Those are exceptions.
The fact simply remains that many MPs are poorly educated and do not have a good command of the English as a reflection of that.

English language is the most medium of expression

transacts business on behalf of the state, whereby
the medium of expression should be English?
Since that MP cannot or could not express himself

that MP's side. Many transactions that have ended
unsatisfactory on the state's side must have resulted
from bad communication or lack of understanding or expression in English language. At least the

Yes Mr. Bentil, it's a fact but should be a worry that we continue to worry about this problem without finding a solution to it. Note the solution to this isn't learning that language to perfection. The bane of our under development (throughout Africa) is the continued use of a foreign language officially. Kwame Nkrumah should have been supported when he wanted to use the Akan language as national but sadly the idea was kicked against. The change we need now is to choose an official local language, train the children in it and gradually phase out the foreign languages instead of now introducing more. How can one successfully tackle a chemistry question when he can't correctly understand the language therein applied? All the developed countries (even North Korea) uses their own languages so their children have no problem. Let's change, it'll be difficult but not impossible.

Is good we are discussing this topic,I am of the opinion that, good governance is not about speaking good English,we as a nation should adopt means to tap into all talents and resources available to us,Jesus when He came to this world used the learned and the unlearned, there were the Peters,Luke, matthew and others, they all played a major role. The white man came and initiated translation of the Bible into our local languages, and it was effective, people of who couldn't speak English ,God used them for a lot of miracles. At UN they interpret to various languages, the Germanys speak their language when they come to the States, especially when they are doing news conference with the president of USA,they are proud of what they have, almost all the developed nations speak their language,is their identity.East Africans do the same, instead of developing what we have,we are running away.

This Kofi Bentil, in his article, stated that "I am not saying one has to be expressive in the Queen’s language before contesting as an MP, but it is also baffling that an individual contesting as an MP can’t satisfactorily express his or herself in English". - Shame on you, body!!. Do you know the word "Himself"? That is the proper English Grammar and NOT "Hisself". You must be ashamed of yourself.
For your unnecesary and unwarranted article, the proper English Grammar should have been "an individual contesting as an MP can't satisfactorily express "him or herself in English" and NOT "his or herself in English.
This IMANI guy professes to have a good command of English language but look at him - internationally embarrassing himself and his IMANI organization - whatever that organization stands for.

Sounds pitiful that money becomes the embodiment of politicking in Ghana and so deny the true patriot a shot at representing their own people. Most Ghanaian MPs aspire to this august office just to make money.....nothing else. The lack of english knowledge pales into insignificance when considered alongside the endemic lack of intellect to understand what they are in parliament for. If you dont nderstant the depth of a legislation's pretext as evidenced by the massive absence from sittings or the "I concur" syndrome, then it is obvious most people go there as passengers to seek the influence that they lack in their private lives to formulate their personal objectives to the detriment of Ghanaians.

How can the MPs with tribal bigotry as the base of their primitive lives think that English is the national language and therefore they ought speak it daily in their interactions, when they even speak TWI with foreigners. It is a shame to see many of them doing this in overseas too.
Further it is disgraceful that when they meet a Ghanaian who could not speak TWI then they show a sign of low mentality like it is a must that one should speak TWI while they shamefully forget that English is the nation's language.
No wonder they are disgracing thenmselves in public when even foreigners are in attendance. This primitivity in the language issue is primarily practiced by the shameless Ashantes who see their wrongs as rights. And to be specific those MPs with the deficiency in English are by majority Ashantes.
Kofi Bentsil is a boldless, fearful and hypocrate since he failed to be specific with the Ashantes who are the problem in the English language issue at stake that they are not fluent in English. Period. Kufour and many of them are typical examples.

I have heard from a Ghanaian group in London of their displeasure of a candidate on the ticket of a political party because the said won MP cannot speak or write english and that that MP is a school dropout. Since when did Ghanaians recognise that Ghanaian languages are prudent in parliament? Has the constitution been amended to take that effect? How can such an MP contribute to proceedings of the house?
