In recent days, we have been treated to the Chief Justice commissioning flats for senior judges, and separately, bemoaning the poor state of court buildings. It is sad. I do not know how the judicial service is organised but one would suppose that it has a permanent "Facilities Manager", or to put it in British parlance, an "Estate Manager", whose job will be to maintain all courtrooms and their furnishings. Painting of court buildings - inside and out should be on a routinized basis. Things like light bulbs, repairs to plumbing fixtures, electric fixtures should.be an on going effort. This is brainless stuff. Why is it not being done? A budget should be in place, and routine audits done to ensure no libbi libbi goes on. Ghanaians, even when they work in the judiciary, are known to have sticky fingers.
