After all, NPP encourage and reward truancy. People who cannot find their certificates are seen as technocrats. If the law prohibits a person with dual citizenship from holding such public office, then so be it. Someone was jailed by his own gov't for doing that. Y shd his be an exception. He must just proof his innocence and continue.

It is indeed annoying to hear such narrow-minded thinking from some Ghanaians. When I hear such silly reasoning the first thing that comes to mind is that such people are simply envious. People living abroad contribute tremendously to the economic welfare of members of their families and indeed their communities! Do you know how much Ghanaians abroad remit to their families in Ghana every year? We should not even have such a law that prohibits a dual citizen from becoming an MP.

The law is very clear on the consequences a holder of dual citizenship should face if he failed to denounce before contesting an election in the country . At least, in our recent history we can cite Hon Adamu Sakande as one example of a holder of dual citizenship to suffer for not denouncing his American citizenship status before becoming the MP. I really don't see the brouhaha over this at all. I will rather encourage all the youth to go all out to through lawful means to have the MP elect punished for flouting the laws of the land. No one is above the law in this country. May God bless them richly.
