Yea you are right. the president does not pay tax on his salary, he doesn't buy clothings, he does not pay rent, electricity bills, water bills, phone bills, doesn't buy fuel for his vehicle and so on. Yet there are a lot of unemployed Ghanaians who are willing to work and out of GREED you have increased your salary for poor ghanaian tax payers who are earning scanty salaries to pay. WHY!!?

The percentage of voters who turned up to exercise their franchise was significantly higher that that of the US. As for the UK, they did not even have the chance to vote for T. May. We're doing fine. We're making progress. The most illiterate Ghanaian now knows what it means to sing Onaapo, pre-election, and cast his vote on election day. We will never achieve 100% but you sound like the proverbial blind man who hold the tail of an elephant and says the elephant is like a snake. No, we have more faith in democracy than ever before. And we have more faith in this than the stupid revolutions and Holy Wars of the past.

Kwesi Nduom should get out of his delusional thinking that it is only his party that can safe Ghana. He was not exceptional in his performance when he served as a minister under Kuffour. Ghanaians don't see him as a leader. He couldn't manage the CPP, he broke away to form his party and he could not garner 1% of the votes. Don't waste our ears.

NO RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT
DEMOCRACY DOES NOT PERMIT ONE TO INSULT AND SPREAD FALSE INFORMATION ABOUT OTHERS
FREEDOM OF SPEECH DOES NOT MEAN LACK OF DISCRETION YOU CAN BE SUED JUST BECAUSE MAJORITY OF GHANAIANS ARE POORLY EDUCATED AND POOR DOES NOT MEAN THEY CAN NOT BE SUED AT THE LAW COURTS THEY NEED TO BE EDUCATED
IN UK WHERE DEMOCRACY IS PRACTICED ONE CANNOT INSULT THE PRIME MINISTER OR THE QUEEN AND GET AWAY WITH IT
RESPECT FOR OTHERS RIGHT MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES
DEMOCRACY BRINGS RIGHTS AND ALSO RESPONSIBILITIES

All the indicators showed that under the NPP the Economy improved. So I don't get what Dr. Nduom is saying. And why is the Dr. saying Ghanaians are losing faith in Democracy ? To opt for what '....cracy' ? Where is the statistics ? Please Dr. you are well respected so don't speak anyhow! Are you saying that a majority of the 11 or so million citizens who voted in the recent elections are thinking of Aristocracy, Military rule or what? Please come again..

Is Nduom talking about out Politics or Economics? His assertions did not offer adequate understanding of what he meant.
Exercising our democratic rights, even without fail, does not necessarily ensure a continued Economic growth. We could always peacefully and diligently conduct clean and fair Elections, for example, but if we fail to adhere to, and apply, rule-of-law to keep Officials in line we would have our Economy screwed with rampant corruption. Infrastructural developments could also be accelerated but if they are not rightly prioritized, our Economic trajectory might still be wishy-washy, zig-zag, up and down, or anything but a straight line upwards.
In short, the existence of 'Democracy' does not necessarily prevent Economic downturn. And given that our Economy is now tightly wound around a few sources of production, we will continue to be vulnerable to Economic troubles in some other part of the Globe. And if, say, recession in Europe slows down or diminishes our Cocoa and Oil revenues and we have less foreign exchange to import the most basic things we fail to manufacture ourselves, the domestic Economy would take a dive. That should not necessarily affect our Democracy. At least, not in the short term.
Long Live Ghana!!!
If Nduom is rather urging our leaders to ensure we have a continued growth in development and Economic health, that would make much sense. But he seemed in his assertion to be complaining about our Politicking that he perceives as hampering our Democracy.
So far, we have not had any major setback in our retention of basic Democracy. What we are afflicted by is corruption and ineptitude in Government.
