Misbehaving officers must be punished and instead of that he is supporting the useless show of force by his unprofessionally trained men. If they are professionally trained they will not behave the way the did. Its important discipline reign in the military and officers should be seen enforcing that and not condoning any misbehaviour of their men. Having a gun does not make one superior and note that one day you shall visit hospital and if the doctor refuses to work on you shall die.

My exact sentiments. Per their logic, if the arresting officer had taken ill, the arrested man would have been detained indefinitely.

Its servebtge police and their station right. Its always said you touch one soldier. You touch the whole barracks. I remember back in Ho in the 80s. The Police arrested a soldier (be it junior or senior officer) The Volta barracks quickly organized to storm the police to get the Soldierman out of there. And later the Army also arrested e police senior officer smuggling wee. Then a payback until the Regsec have to weigh in with co station with the Army and police to advised all to respect their comrades. Before the matter came to a close. Sincebtgen the police never venture withbtge army. Note. The army has their own branch as Mimitary Police. The Airforce For Officer Did The Right Thing. Thank You Irforce Commander at Takoradi. You serve the police right. Next time they will respect and keep the relationship between the Army and Police as it has been ever before. There are laws in Ghana and the constitution says that only the Ghana police enforce the law, the army are to defend the country. The police can arrest anyone in as far as they have probable cause. If the soldier was driving erratically and was drunk he could be detained,my only disagreement is the police assertion the arresting office was not around so bail could not be granted, that was total nonsense, however, the soldiers had no right to take the law into their own hands. They have to be severely dealt with to deter such behavior by scrupulous military personnel.

Please the soldiers didn't get it right .Ask the police for their part of the story. You can't walk to the police station to demand that those at the charge office should grant bail to a suspect without the CID and the CRIME OFFICER'S instructions.I think the police must use the media to educate the public and the soldiers. But we are comrades the police too should have considered him! The soldiers are wrong because if they thought the police on duty were doing the wrong thing, they could have reported them to the police commander over there to intervene.The soldiers need education about how the police work but "some of the policemen their behaviours I can't think far)

The Police arrested a soldier (be it junior or senior officer) The Volta barracks quickly organized to storm the police to get the Soldierman out of there. And later the Army also arrested e police senior officer smuggling wee. Then a payback until the Regsec have to weigh in with co station with the Army and police to advised all to respect their comrades. Before the matter came to a close. Sincebtgen the police never venture withbtge army. Note. The army has their own branch as Mimitary Police. The Airforce For Officer Did The Right Thing. Thank You Irforce Commander at Takoradi. Police here are more fearful than soldiers when it comes to internal security. What am i trying to say? Soldiers are not above the law and i think that British army is aware. I don't think he could do or drive carelessly in UK and go unpunished. If he can't do that in UK why was he doing that in Ghana? I have seen number of times police arrest soldiers for traffic offenses and sent them to court so who does that soldier think he is? If you are a British soldier and so what? Even the white British soldiers when they come to Ghana will obey the traffic rules. It is time we tell those guys to stop such attitudes when they come to ghana. Let him go to uk and drive carelessly and see if they will set him free it is nonsense and shouldn't be entertained at all. To Ghanaian soldiers what right to you have to ask the release of that soldier without allowing the law to take its own due process or course? Please dont let us see ourselves as inferior to others. Vandalizing the station means you have disguised the authority such soldiers all of them need to be punished severy if you are soldiers and so what? If you want to fight go and fight isis and boko haram soldiers. It is a disgrace to the country. I personally went to court for trafiic violation and met many soldiers who were there for the same reason why didnt they call for backup when they were pull off by the police officers? It is time we tell the soldiers to be law abiding people. We see you as soldiers when you are in your uniform and respect you as such so respect yourselves too. I believe in the leaders of Ghana air force to handle this case in a better way to give high satisfaction to the police fraternity and the good people of ghana. Thank you

The British army officer eill be the first to admit that intvthe UK, you can't break driving regulation, get arrested and having the fellow soldiers vandaliding the police station forctue arrest. They get similar training; so whybthe difference in behaviour and respect for law and order?

Ideally, the reckless soldier driver must be arrested on the spot, taken to the station, detained him, informed the UK High commissin in Ghana for action. He could have been handed over to the Ghanaian military command the next morning by which time the police would finished processing him for court. The Ghanaian soldiers lack the legal mandate to demand for his immediate release when the investigative process have just began. As it stand now, the UK high commission would be informed to play a role in the prosecution of the affected UK soldier. Others who attacked the two police personnel must be charged with the appropriate offences. The police and the military must work withing the laws of Ghana. Anything outside the law is punishable by the same law. Nobody is above the law.

The victims should file criminal charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, menace, obstruction of government functioning as well as civil suit against the soldiers involved, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Air Force Commander and the Minister of Defence. This nonsense must stop. I'm willing to pay their legal bills.

Just fire them from the Air Force, and then prosecute them as common thugs. These miscreants have no place in a disciplined Armed Forces. It will serve as warning to other soldiers who think they are above the law. IDIOTS!!!
