Prematurely declaring victory when the EC has yet to release its results is a recipe for disaster. The NPP has wiped its supporters into a frenzy and a state of euphoria and is trying to bully Ghanaians into accepting them as winners and the NDC as losers. The country will be in a turmoil if it turns out that the NDC has won the elections anyway. At this juncture, there's no need for Mahama or Akuffo-Addo to concede until the final election results are released by the EC.

Refusing or delaying in order to turn 1 into 10 isn't gonna change your marbles or fate.
A gentleman concedes if he is convinced, that is for the public good. Failing or doubting the obvious makes you look like a bofrot!

No one has officially declared the NPP the winners but themselves. Until the EC declares the winner, the NPP can make a fool of themselves if they want.
