I thought the arena is multi-purpose? Meaning training centers, gym, rings, offices etc. It will also include clinics for sure.

We need to build the sport from the grassroots level. Every ghetto in ghana should have a modern boxing gym. I would hbe been happier had the govt built 3 or 5 modern gyms in each ghetto across the country than this.

At least fight night will bring some money to bukom even if small. To be honest these should have been done privately by the likes of Azumah, Ike and the rest and not necessarily by the government

Ghana has produced some of the best boxers, not just from Ghana and Africa but the best world champions of all time. Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey to name two. This is good news to have a good venue. It will encourage local promoters and that will encourage the promoters to develop the talent. But there must be adequate training and most importantly great coaches. So the best thing to do next is to recruit a top boxing coach, from overseas if necessary and bring them to Ghana to develop the local talent with a 4 year contract. At the same time set up boxing gyms for juveniles. If you start the talent young they'll get to the level they need to by their late teens. But yuo can't take someone at the age of 28 and suddenly expect him to be a world champion. It doesn't work like that.

Please the truth need to be told. The boxing arena was not built by government. It was built by SSNIT with workers monthly contributions. People who will be using that facility will surely pay because it's a private venture.
