They acted foolishly for allowing strangers to take their child away because of a promise for a so called better life.

It is a human trafficking syndicate at work. That Maa Lizzy and her son must be immediately arrested and arraigned before Court for human trafficking. They could have been doing this for a long time, using the Orphanage as a front.

Besides, if the parents claim they are illiterate but were expected to sign unto some document that they could not read to know its contents, why didn't they seek an outsider to help explain the contract to them? I'd say that the parents made unpardonable errors their illiteracy notwithstanding. Nobody gives their child to a total stranger under any circumstances that jeopardize the child's safety, or entail the risk of losing the child.

Furthermore, if that Maa Lizzy is really running an orphanage, the place should immediately taken over by the Security Agencies and fully investigated for any possible prior occurrence of such a heinous crime.

I strongly believe this may not be the only and first instance of Maa Lizzy using her orphanage as a front to trade in human lives. She could have, similarly, sold many orphans away already. She and her cohorts in crime ought to be in jail forever.

The Government must also do whatever is in its power to retrieve the child back to the family as soon as possible. The transaction was fraudulently executed, with lies and deceit. This should teach us all how important Education is to our modern existence, and that we need to curb our craze for seeking better lives abroad. Period!

But in Ghana, where the system is dysfunctional and fraught with corruption it is possible that the story did happen. It is had to believe that the white people were able to take the child to Slovenia without the parents' consent. How were they able to get a passport for the child without presenting a birth certificate that is in the parents' possession? The white people along with Maa Lizzy are guilty of kidnapping. If the child is already in Slovenia, there's nothing Ghana Police can do about it, except seek the assistance of INTERPOL.
